They always write this stuff acting like the only Native Indians are whiny bitches like the Navajo.
When there are plenty of tribes who did completely assimilate and had a far better time for it without having to sacrifice their identity or culture either. My local Louisiana tribe literally just became one with the white settlers to the point where we all just look red (thanks to the sun turning our skin leather) and they have their tribal meetings while we go about our business.
But no, its always that historical revisionism that there was no choice for the Indians but to be slaughtered and tortured because Whitie was just that evil. They had zero agency ever and never did a single thing wrong that lead to their albeit tragic consequences.

Plenty of tribes stood down peacefully, but there were those who simply enjoyed extreme violence and believed in their own divine ownership of the land. For them the only acceptable outcomes were genocide of the whites or death. They received death.
And in some ways, I think they were still in the right in that belief more than the European colonists, simply because they were in fact there first. No moral judgement, simply based on the most neutral fact possible they "owned" the land first.
But if you try to fuck around, you can't be upset when you find out. Even worse, when you drag down a much larger amount of people who didn't want to fuck around with you, you are committing outright acts of evil that you can't blame on anyone else.

People never stop to question as to why, despite there being a rather large number of various native tribes still up and kicking all over the place even during westward expansion, there was not much pushback.
Atleast part of the answer basically boils down to 'Alot of said tribes absolutely fucking hated one another and would gleefully use all these new european technology to ramp up the killing, and payback is an utter bitch.'

Reservations are hotbeds of alcoholism, domestic violence and sexual abuse.
There are basically no employment opportunities outside taking money from the government.
If you live on a reservation and you want a good job or a career then you go where the work is, just like everyone else.
The USA switched from substance farming to a factory production economy in WWII. Agriculture was mechanised and people have been moving to cities ever since.
This has impacted every single small rural town, and native American reservation are no exception. Except Native Americans have their cultural identity tied up in being isolated and jobless.
It is exactly the same with Aboriginal Australians. Most of them that live in Sydney or Melbourne no longer speak 'language' and they might even get jobs.
Yes everyone with ambition beyond drinking themselves to death leaves. I went to school with some of these as they get huge diversity points.
