I think they're about to let non-citizens be police too. A scenario where a van full of Somali cops show up and arrest you for not renting to an MS-13 guy, none of whom have any documentation about who they are or where they're from, is entirely possible by this time next year.

There is a chance that you will get sued by an NGO. The argument will be that requiring a credit check is racist cause it affects black people more, it does not have to be a strong argument. The process is the punishment and if you get to a liberal judge you may get fucked.

This bill makes "immigration status" a protected class, so labdlords can no longer explicitly deny a rental application on that basis.
However, as the race grifters have demonstrated with their reaction to the SCOTUS ruling on affirmative action, there are a million ways around that. How many illegals meet the credit threshold that landlord set? How many of them can show proof of ongoing employment and proof of income? Clean criminal records?
