It’s funny that is literally the only argument they have and the environmental negatives are completely offset by the amount of trees that are required to be planted around the nuclear power plant.
They also try to toss some insane numbers regarding how much more "carbon" is tossed around from mining uranium.
The only thing I will admit is that it does take a fair bit of time and money to produce a solid and reliable nuclear plant. There's also some question regarding efficient electrical grid distribution.
But then these idiots keep claiming they're concerned about the "long term", so why aren't they factoring in fantastic long-term solutions and doing what they can to make them work?
In an Australian government report into the feasibility of Nuclear Power they did the whole looking to the future, ie. used it as an excuse to dismiss Nuclear Power.
Their assumption (such that they could get the results the government asked for) was that over 50% of all Australian houses would have large scale battery storage by 2035.
It was one of the most retarded things I've ever read.
What's even funnier about that is that large scale battery storage would actually make nuclear power even more usable since it would offer a convenient avenue for channeling a lot of the surplus electrical energy produced.
Here’s what funny: there would have been no need to mine uranium rods for centuries. The ability to reprocess spent uranium rods exist and so feasible that it would be nearly impossible to runout. Thanks to government shittery (Jimmy Carter banning it but being unbanned by Reagen with forced higher costs), it’s impossible to setup a new facility. Even Trump prevented more from opening. The French and the Brits even reprocess the rods!
Ackhtualee, nuclear power plants give off a lot of radiation and blow up a lot. I'm edumacated about this because we watched Cher Noble and The China Sickness in my PoliSci class.
They could just do what Germany does after it shut down its nuclear power plants: become a net importer of electricity ... from France ... who use nuclear power plants.
Germany exports wind energy to other countries when there is less demand (in Europe), then import nuclear from France at high prices when there is demand.
I saw a tweet calling Germany a "grid parasite", which is accurate. Cant find it right now tho.
I would criticise them not just doing nuclear but then I remember how incompetent the authorities of the UK are and it's probably safer for everyone involved just to go back to coal....
Nowadays there are types of nuclear power designs that are almost foolproof and won't cause dangerous meltdowns when something goes wrong.
So naturally the UK authorities would likely bid out a bespoke 1980s design that will cause a Three Mile Island incident when Ahmed coughs on the wrong control panel and result in them banning nuclear power again.
I learn from experience and history, the current British authorities will be so incompetent it will make things worse, the Americans will fuck up an intervention to make the enemy they were meant to crush stronger, China no matter win or lose their next conflict will mean minimum 1/2 million of their troops will die.
Good luck getting any large scale building project done to design in the UK now. HS2 is nowhere near what was originally suggested and that's just a trainline. Then add in the various sycophants in government who will want to use the building of new nuclear power plants as a PR step for their own political interests and you have delays having to work out idiots who can't even vote properly by means of standing in the correct place.
The way things are now such a plan for building a nuclear power plant in the UK would likely result in a facility that required more energy put in than it would ever manage to give out. And it would somehow catch on fire.
Crucial word. And also assuming a baseline level of competence, instead of active malice and outright retardation which are two very likely types of employees they'd have.
Yeah, the fundamentally unreliable nature of so called 'green' energy means that every megawatt must be backed up 100% by an actually reliable generation source if you want to have a usable power grid. Who could have guessed?
"It is a sign of failure that the National Grid is turning to one of the most polluting forms of power generation ..." Ami McCarthy, political campaigner at environmental group Greenpeace UK said in a statement.
Apparently not this chick. Somehow it's 'the grid's' failure, definitely not her precious windmills and solar panels.
". . to deal with a summer heatwave that we know has been made worse because of climate change,"
Oh yeah, got to get the ol' climate change chestnut in there. Everybody be afraid! Yep, the power problems are definitely because climate change and not the shitty energy policy people like her are pushing. I'm certain she thinks the 'failure' is that the UK hasn't built enough windmills...
Hey, you know what does produce shit tons of energy and is zero emission? NUCLEAR.
That would solve the problems though, what else could our elites mouthpiece for support if they actually solved it with one simple step
BuT tHe AmOuNt Of CoNcReTe!

Our Agenda 2030 Build Back Better masters envision a future with zero concrete or steel. We'll have "better, greener, sustainable" materials by then.

Climate grifters don't want solutions, they want problems. They can leverage problems to try and spread their commie faggotry.

Fun fact: Germany frequently has to pay other EU countries to take excess German energy.
Yes, you've read that right: Germany has to pay to export excess electricity.

Of course. The UK should have a smart grid that shuts off your AC if it hears you complain about migrants.
