I understand that fire will behave as fire does, and that a burn can go from controlled to inferno in moments, but "suddenly wind shift" feels more than a bit suspicious.
I feel this is a subtle difference between masculine and feminine mentalities.
Maybe there was nothing they could do, but did they really do everything? Or was the attitude more "it's not worth my life/someone else will deal with this"?
Whereas the masculine mentality is "I need to succeed, safety and comfort are secondary considerations" which is, of course, considered toxic but could well have prevented these fires.
A lot of right-leaning Alberta Twitter accounts are suggesting that a lot of the fires in the province are deliberately being set by NDP supporters to disrupt the election.
It seems farfetched and I haven't seen much evidence presented.
But it's hard to underestimate the evil on the other side these days.
That article was written nearly 11 years ago. It is not hard to imagine how much worse things are today with increased "DIE" pressure and even more categories of "underrepresented" people.
Male and female brains are quite different on average in how they evaluate risk, respond to stimuli, and even strategize, but unfortunately those differences are too subtle for our culture to appreciate, given that we have a hard enough time understanding the physical differences as it is.
