Does that include the (31%) employee tax they take before you get your salary? The (31%) county tax as well? How about the (25%) VAT? Or the special taxes like 400% plastic bag, 15% tobacco tax, 25% diesel tax, TV license tax, etc, etc... etc?

Salaries are generally much lower compared to the states as well. We have an office in the UK and I was shocked when I first found out what they're earning compared to people at the same level here.
But mUh fReE hEaLtH cArE makes up for it! Yeah no. I've done the math and at least for my profession not even close. There's a lot of things to gripe about state side and I definitely wouldn't mind another week or two of PTO but I quite enjoy not straddling the poverty line so tightly.
Yeah we pay for them to have private health insurance as well because the public offerings are dog shit.
They do get a lot of vacation, but I get 5 weeks and honestly I couldn't imagine taking more than that. I already cash out 1-2 weeks of it each year because I don't use it.
Prices excluding VAT is lower, more local produce and cheaper to import from China.

Lower wage plus lower living cost gives a better cost of living ratio. But hey, take a trip to Commiefornia and notice all the homeless, then you look around in Europe. You're not gonna find many homeless people at all, anywhere.
The vast majority of American homeless are not "working poor who can't afford the cost of living", but worthless bums who wouldn't work in any country. Better to compare them to gypsies.
What you just said is not entirely nonsense but since it's all in service of trying to justify multiple double digit taxes I'm gonna say it's utter nonsense.

You can have any opinion you want on that. Personally I think it's good spending more time with my family and not work all the time.
I don't work all the time and my VAT tax is 7% and optional on the city level.
The fact that you think that Americans have to work more than Europeans makes me think you're just a little bit misinformed about our economic situation.
There are Americans who work too much, and Europeans who work too much. No matter how you slice it, taking half of your income is straight out theft.
None of that, it's income tax, without reduction and the highest rate for those who make more than $4000/mo.
The whole idea is to prevent overworking. Got a well paying job, then work fewer hours. In the end you'll have about as much left as the person who works a low wage job, almost tax free anyway. Around $2000/mo is the typical net wage after tax for all jobs.
How sure are we of this numbers? My Indian friend tells me that he pays something like 20 something % taxes and I also doubt Russia or Romania have that low, or rather I assume that they make it up by paying tons for medical and other services.
I checked on Romania and you pay 25% for pension and another 10% for medical - and I see that the employer plays as well for medical - so Romania gets screwed on taxes. If Finland gets taxed for pension and medical on top of income tax then man you guys are screwed but I assume that the income tax is for everything?
Typical - I so hate this tax + tax + tax and when ever I comment on how taxation is theft people think I'm a "right wing" extremist.
I'm curious how they got these numbers cause I see Portugal at 48% but since I deal with minimum wage and workers that are also owners the value I'd get is around 35% so if we take into account the average of everyone, and workers who don't own their own business then 48% seems achievable but I'd like to see the math.
Fun fact the minimum wage worker will only see 11% tax on his salary even though the number is so much higher (I expect the same thing happens in other places).

The trick is to simply not work all days of the week, 12 hours per day and skip vacation. Do your 8 hour shifts, Monday to Friday and take 6 weeks vacation to enjoy life. You're not gonna earn much more for working more anyway.
Well usually it's tiered so you pay a lower rate on the first $50k or whatever, but then for every dollar between $50k - $75k you pay a slightly higher rate, and so on.
So while it's technically true that earning less = paying less, that doesn't lead to you having more money in your pocket.

Then portugal's is way too low. You see the 35% I mentioned earlier doesn't actually include the tax that is actually called income tax (as that tax for minimum wage is 0%) and having gone to look up the tables for it portugal goes up to 43.8% so they would take something like 54.5% from your salary and then tax your boss an extra 23.75% just to really make sure they kill the economy.
And people wonder why the rich spend money to avoid taxes.....
Imagine only getting 45.5% of your work paid while your boss has to pay 123.75% for it.
Hot damn I had no idea Japan was that bad. I knew it was really high but not that high. Their salaries are already so damn low how the hell do they get by.
Edit: I should have realized quicker, but realistically the median worker probably pays significantly less than that. Like in the US I probably pay around 20%, not the 37% stated.
It got even worse in the last decade, when they implemented a first-ever nationwide sales tax (9% I believe) to pay down the debt and rising pension costs. That's never going away. If the Japanese government does anything well its Keynesianism.

Yeah this could be an average figure or something. My first year working i Japan I was taxed 20% on all income. The from the 2nd year onwards it went down to like 1%
Granted I was making about $15-$20k a year back then
And i have no idea what they spend it on. Finland always seemed the most rundown of all the Scandinavian countries when i went there
Half taken in tax. Then half taken out of the remaining by living costs and pay-to-use public goods
I’d be somewhat ok with moderate taxes if I got anything for it
But being a middle white class male I’m essentially just a fat tax cattle who will only be slaughtered
