Fallout is only good because it's a sandbox. It won't be a good TV adaptation and we all know it.
100%. Nuclear war will have been the fault of evil straight white men, they'll continue to be the ones responsible for all the problems after the apocalypse (bonus points if they're all Christian), and the best and most ideal places will be led by noble black women that run on a socialist political and economical structure where everyone earns an equal amount of food, water, medicine, and whatever else they need, none of which will ever be shown in short supply.
President Tandi of the New Republic will be a strong Black lesbian. The war will have been fought between "Fascist" Americans and Russians competing over who could make the most evil super mutants. Random Chinese people will appear to tell us how the CCP tried to prevent the war but we wouldn't listen. (this way they can sell the show in China)
And of course, the US will have shot first, China will have been an innocent little lambie.
Which goes against lore, because the Americans were warring with China over resources when the bombs went off. That's a Chinese nuke you see at the beginning of FO4, not a Russian one.
Nawww, it'll be fiiine.
Oh look, more man-made horrors.
Great. Now I'm going to have to suffer through a flood of idiots trying to get into the various Fallout games. Wonderful. Delightful.
Meh. Atleast it won't be as bad as Star Wars. Maybe Witcher-level.
That's already come and gone. Just look at how many gay furry commies are into Fallout (exclusively FNV) and deluded themselves into believing the setting is about how the Red Scare was bad and fake.
The only Fallout live action I enjoyed was that one that was on Machinima (that's how long ago it was) with that guy that just wanted nuka cola with a ghoul and a chick, I doubt that this will come anywhere near to this quality
Just came to complain about the author of that article incorrectly claiming that Ghouls require expose to both FEV & radiation to become ghouls. Its just radiation to become a ghoul. Gaming journalists spreading misinformation again.
First freaking picture - a ghoul in a vault suit.
So, option 1: There was a catastrophic failure in the vault's design which mysteriously somehow turned part of the vault into ghouls but left the other half looking like they just walked out of a San Francisco coffee shop
Option 2: The vault dwellers were super progressive and, upon opening the vault and seeing ghouls, decided to welcome these guys that look like zombies into their previously secure environment (and, of course, that decision was beneficial to everyone and is widely praised now)
Option 3: The writers don't care about the setting at all and just said "There's ghouls! There's vaults! Wouldn't it be cool to have part of the vault population be ghouls!"
I'm going to go with 2/3 chance of Option 3, 1/3 of Option 2
What about an Option 4 (that would require baseline intelligence writers that have an understanding of the lore): The Vault-tec experiment for 33 was to gauge the reaction to the ghoulification of some of the Vault dwellers. Watching your friends and family turn inhuman with the potential of feral ghouls could be interesting if done well.
Or Option 5: With the knowledge that becoming a ghoul brings grim benefits, some of the dwellers would willingly choose to become ghouls to help stretch supplies and/or save themselves from an uncontrollable radiation issue.
More likely one of your options though. A damn shame.
Never played it but I plan on it. I’ve been told since I like Skyrim I’d enjoy it because it’s the same game style. Are there any characters to race swap? I’m sure there will be lots of lgbt because in a post apocalyptic world that seems to be the rule according to entertainment
Funny enough, the Fallout series does have a bunch of, y'know, blacks, lesbians, so on and so forth.
Except that they work, because they were written as actual characters, rather than aiming for a diversity checksheet.
Plus, it has Joshua Graham. Who doesn't like Joshua Graham? Godless communists, that's who.
If you do get into Fallout, word of advise; Even if you don't end up liking Fallout 3 and 4, atleast give New Vegas a try. You won't regret it.
Will do. It looks like a fun game, and I was told it’s Skyrim in a post apocalyptic world. Although there is the theory that Elder Scrolls is the very far future from fallout. Also, I notice a lot of people were exposed to Ink Spots thanks to Fallout.
It's not. They weren't even created by the same company.
Aren’t they created by Bethesda? I remember seeing that theory on Reddit a long time ago
No. Fallout was originally made by Black Isle Studios and published by Interplay. When Interplay went into its death throes in the late 2000s, it sold the license to produce Fallout 3 to Bethesda, though they would eventually buy the entire IP.
Thanks for clarification
That's like saying Knights of the Old Republic is set in the future of Dungeons and Dragons. Using the same systems to represent two different worlds doesn't mean they are the same world.
There really shouldn't be any need to race-swap characters. Fallout isn't a character-based or narrative-driven series, it's primarily a sandbox setting that can be used to tell any story the writers can fit into it, just like in most RPGs like Shadowrun, The Elder Scrolls, and D&D's Sword Coast. There might be a larger meta-narrative at play, but that's really more to establish a proper history and timeline to tell the latest story in. Ideally, a Fallout TV series wouldn't need to adapt any of the games (and with it, do race swaps); it could just tell its own original story with all-new characters, rather than just adapt the story of one of the games.
Though yes, there is indeed going to be an absurd number of alphabet people regardless. Even though this is a setting where much of the population is going to be expected to bear children, and supposed trannies are going to have a hell of a lot more to worry about than whether or not they're in the wrong body or break "gender stereotypes."
Ok so they can’t mess that up. Unless people are tired of post apocalyptic stories they could make a great series
Why did Microsoft sign off on this terrible idea?
Fallout will not make a good show, even if it isn't woke trash.
They're not trying to make a good show. Their goal is to push propaganda, earn some ESG funbux from Blackrock, and maybe get a little more from idiots that watch it.
