Two questions actually. I'm wondering if you have any relatives or friends like I do posting the usual memes about how right wingers are the real snowflakes because we can't "handle" a beer can with a "trans person" on it. I always hate the "right wingers are the real snowflakes" argument because these are the same people who cry if a show that takes place in 800AD Iceland isn't diverse enough, or literally think it is genocide if you acknowledge the delusions of certain people as objective reality. I know some libertarians say just don't buy it and the market will take care of everything, and I agree to a point, but it has been shown time and time again that companies don't care what the consumers want and there are those who only care about "THE MESSAGE". I can understand people getting sick and tired of the constant pandering to certain demographics (i.e lgbt, black, girl power, etc) that make up tiny percentage of the population. So how do you respond? I get that I can buy something else or watch something else but that doesn't seem to change anything.
Second question: Do you think there are some execs or tv/movie writers who live in such a leftist bubble that they honestly think certain things will be popular or do you think it is all the message? Like I feel like some people at marvel honestly thought that America Chavez or Ironheart were going to be huge sellers and were shocked that they were cancelled. Same thing with the gay Superman. Also in certain heavily blue areas it seems to be trendy to be anything but straight so someone who lives in those areas are probably shocked to see that a movie like Bros bombs. I know ESG has a lot of influence, but I also think some people honestly believe that shows like Rings of Power will be huge hits.
I HOPE BUD FUCKING DIES BECAUSE THEY STOLE THAT NAME FROM MY COUNTRY AND THEY SULLY ITS NAME BY MAKING PISSWATER
No but seriously. I don't have an answer to your first question, but the second one - yes, absolutely. The Bud fiasco itself is a perfect example. I can guarantee you that the horse-faced bitch who came up with it doesn't know a single person who drinks the shit she was in charge of marketing. There was noone in her insulated bubble of "cool wine aunts" who could tell her to stop. And the same principle applies all across the board. It's incredible. Personally, I like to expose myself to libs' talking points, but they can't do the same, they can't read Zerohedge or Unherd or whatever - because their belief systems fall apart the very moment they're confronted with reality, and the cognitive dissonance is painful to them. I guess.
The sad thing is, some of my friends are highly educated and genuinely smart people, but a part of being smart and educated and "worldly" around here is that you've gotta read shit like the NYT and WaPo and The Grauniad and the BBC, and absolutely no counter-narrative media. So they read that garbage, and they unironically accept what these terrible rags tell them, no matter how many times I show them it's bullshit. I've had arguments with them where I actually managed to convince them that something they considered to be true was bullshit - but then a few days later they're back to their original beliefs. It's so frustrating.
Plus that marketing VP bashed the frat boy image of Bud lite but she partied and stuff in college so now she will look down her nose at the very same ppl
Yeah. She is (or was?) in charge of marketing a product she knew nothing about, to a target audience she considers beneath her. There's no good that could possibly come out of that.
Seems this is the current strategy.. denigrate the old fanbase.
This really hits me where it hurts. I've totally been there. Perhaps the most pure NPC behavior I've ever witnessed.
Well ... it's not so much the "snowflake" thing that bothers me, it's the hypocrisy that they are preaching.
They lead an active campaign against three products with mascots. The Aunt Jemima Brand (Now Pearl Baking Company), the Uncle Ben's Rice mascot, and the Land 'O' Lakes squaw.
Then they have the absolute cheek to say we ... are the snowflakes?
Thankfully I'm really not plugged into all that stuff. The family I talk to frequently are at least varying levels of based, the others I don't keep track of online or anything.
The thing I hate about this argument is, it's always from leftist framing. The argument falls apart because it's not really a parallel at all to right-wingers calling out leftists for being whiny crybullies. The right is not saying "do and believe everything I say, or you're a bad person...oh, you won't do that? What a snowflake."
But that's exactly what lefties mean when they accuse the right of being snowflakes. "Oh, you're calling out leftist agendas? SNOWFLAKE." No, fuck you. Stop ruining culture, you freaking communists. It's not the same. When they say "snowflake" it just means someone who called them out on their crap.
I've said it before, but leftists push their cancer nonstop, and then as soon as anyone pushes back against them, they cry victim, and smear their opponents as hypocrites for finally standing up for themselves. No, lefties aren't willing to leave others in peace. If they were, I wouldn't give a shit. But, also, if they were willing to leave people in peace...Bud wouldn't be promoting troon shit anyway.
I used to think they had some grasp on reality, but I'm not so sure anymore. I always knew they bought into their own garbage, but I still underestimated just how much. The "NPC" label fits so well for a reason; these people barely think, they just consume The Narrative.
Back in the day when we still had pork barrels and mainstream media that had to appeal to everybody, Conservatives were "sensibly mean" and liberals were "sensibly nice".
Then the information age happened.
Turns out that mean people become more sensible with unlimited access to facts because facts provide justification for that meanness. Somebody's living under a bridge well you can buy their history from an information broker and, yep, turns out they're a screwup and have only themselves to blame.
And nice people become less sensible with more information because the real world is harsh. You can't say oh blacks get more speeding tickets because racism when the studies repeatedly show they're are actually speeding that much more.
Liberals either stop being nice people or hide from reality - or both. The demonizing of everybody else is them hiding from facts and reality, dropping "sensibly nice" to just "nice".
If anyone unironically repeats the right-wing snowflake soundbyte in person, firmly ask them if coherent language matters. Make sure the topic stays flipped, and ditch them if they get their panties get bunched.
The endpoint of "trans" ideology is to convince people to amputate off their genitals.
There's an argument The Tranny is their version of Jesus...but the need for continual sacrifice means it's more like live sacrifice of human beings, or throwing virgins in volcanoes.
I think we're seeing some very deliberate social engineering. Long story short I think you're supposed to feel threatened, and supposed to motivate everyone in the system to stand up to the psychos and get enough involved in what's going on around them to prevent society going off the edge of a cliff.
You're supposed to feel your children are threatened, and this is suppose to motivate you to go to parent teacher conferences, school board meetings, etc - stuff it's easy to just skip and watch TV instead.
One theory about Musk taking over Twitter is that one of his kids got pulled into the tranny cult and that pushed him into taking over twitter. This kind of thing happens at every level.
I’ve also heard that it will lead to pedophilia because if you can get society to accept that a kid can make life altering choice then that is the next step so the theory goes
See the UN policy on children and consent...
When I first heard people saying that I thought they were crazy. Guess I was wrong
I deleted my second Facebook account a month ago because of contagious vapidity; should have stuck with my decision 9 years ago. Anyone close already has my email address, phone number, or can track down my website when I get around to deciding on a tech stack. Are you getting enjoyment out of whatever social media platform you share with IRL acquaintances?
I get some enjoyment out of groups like the one for fellow comic book collectors, 80s/90s kids, classic tv shows.
The "right wingers are the real snowflakes" posts are perhaps the most cringy leftoid post that I commonly come across.
Wouldn't know. I don't really use social media.
Yes and no. Execs might care only for money. Middle management might care only for the message. Whoever gets the gig to write/draw shitty woke comics might be a true believer that his mediocre garbage will take off and save the world.
It's very possible that the higher ups demand a show and that the order twists into woke nonsense as it trickles down through the management layers. The higher ups can't do anything about it because the company is infested with the cancer and anyone they hire comes with it too. That's assuming the higher ups don't care for wokeness.
It's a culture war so this kind of thing is being fought inside almost every company.
Guess this explains why no higher if at marvel comics for instance ever asked why they were obsessed with catering to girls or why so many shows have to be race or gender swapped reboots
I have lefty friends and a common thing is for them to crow about how such and such company is doing great after promoting the latest insanity. They truly believe the Go Broke part doesn't exist. How could Google, Microsoft, Amazon and other companies large enough to be their own countries fall?
As for the second part, the vast majority of people who do cultural research are idiots. They don't understand it's just hanging out with people in the culture. I've learned tons more by taking buddies from another culture to a lab party than acting like the idiot professors I have met. The vast majority go in with their own ideas of what they are and what answers they will find. Check out Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich as an example. Heck, check out Laramie Project or so many more. Then, when someone who can actually do research comes in, they will put that person to the side and treat them like some kind of special needs kid who doesn't understand 'reality'. I had that happen with a project last year. They hired me to do the research, then ignored it for their own opinions. The proposals they made were rejected.
So yes, they don't know and don't care.
The first one. She went into low income areas and pretended to be poor with them. Then she wrote about what she learned entirely from a rich socialists point of view.
I can see that
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. And the road to a dystopic hellscape is littered with the corpses of failed progressive experiments.
They're twitter-addicts who are fighting the 'culture war' through their products and companies to get at that 'evil' tweeter who was mean to them months prior.
