https://archive.is/Ckw47 - Much like overriding a veto, the threshold to sentence a motherfucker to death is now 2/3rds majority. You can thank liberals lying about their positions and poisoning jury pools for this, as with the Parkland asshole.
https://archive.is/HxP8A - and in a feel good story, they are also working on passing a bill that will put pedos on death row
There. Simple understandable title. Fuck off, I'm done trying to make the depressing shit fun and with this fucking sub.
FWIW I appreciate your posts and contributions regardless of the title, but I think the complain is less so that you aren't making it fun, and more so that often the titles are a garbled mess that require multiple reads to process. This one is good though.
Actual pedophiles who have acted on their desires do deserve the wood chipper. That being said, as with any case of the government sentencing someone to death, there should need be proof so thorough and incontrovertible before such a sentence can be handed down.
Agree all round, and I’m honestly a little wary of the proposal to allow the death penalty from a non-unanimous jury. I get that there will be people who never want anyone executed, but that’s luck of the draw / a sign the prosecutor should do voir dire better. I’m wary enough of the potential for innocent people to be executed, and of the fact that criminal trials vary as to how much a stickler for truth the jury and prosecutors are, that I want every possible safeguard against it. Life in prison without parole has a drawback of costing the taxpayers, but I still don’t want the state killing anyone unless were damn sure about it.
You okay General Boobs? You seem a bit mad.
Here's a flower: ⚘. I think you're nice person.
Define pedophile. A man fucking a 15yo girl is a lot different than a man fucking a 9yo girl. Also, a man looking at child porn is a lot different than a man who kidnaps a 7yo girl at a mall and rapes her. Also, what's the level of evidence when an ex-wife accused the husband of sexual assault of their children to get a better divorce settlement or just get back at the man?
Here's a really interesting question to. Is teaching 5yo kids about sex while dressed in drag a form of pedophilia?
There's a lot of situations of "pedophilia" I'm not sure I would agree with the death penalty.
The article states that the death penalty would be an option for sexual battery on someone 12 or younger, if the jury unanimously agrees two or more “aggravating factors” are present.
Even if the factors are present, life without parole remains an option for a sentence.
The "presence of a firearm" bit reminds me of the 10-20-Life law that the lefties whined about (because it worked).
Seems well thought out
Seems the odd one out there.
Let's not forget the classic, which is "drunkenly tried to take a piss off in an alley somewhere, and then a family wandered by." Which legally carries all the weight of pedophilia and nobody is gonna listen to you explain yourself when they hear the no-no word.
The part I'm most worried about is how the FBI plants CP on people's computer as well. Oh, crazy how that right-wing activist that everyone liked who got arrested for insurrection on January 6th had CP on his computer when the FBI raided his home... Weird... Guess he was a pedo...
That too. Both are issues. One is more likely to happen to random innocents, and the other to anyone who dares act up.
Which is why I always urge people here to not fall too deep into the "pedo" hysteria. Because it will absolutely be used to distract them.
What is the safeguard for Jurors lying to be in a trial?
Classic Florida Man.
The other way to solve this problem would be to hit any jurors who lie about their positions/to get on the bench, with perjury. But I guess then they would need THEIR 13 jurors, of which lefty liars would lie to get on the bench, and then THEY would need THEIR 13 jurors, and it just wouldn't end.
Make it a misdemeanor with 5 months jail so the lying jurors don't get a jury trial.
1/5 - Needs more title.
At least there's some kind of threshold, I guess.
Though, I'm always going to be against the idea of capital punishment solely because executing an innocent man (which, let's be clear, has has happened multiple times) is a mistake you can't undo. I also just have a problem with giving the state the power to end someones life. Don't get me wrong, Florida has every right to govern how they choose. I just have my principles.
I actually get a kick out of your titles sometimes for what it's worth.
