I hope this bombs. This has become parody’s at this point. Is this based on a book?
Yes, a historical book.
Also, increasingly just mad.
The actor is also way too young. Even at the start of the story (when the narrator is young), Merlin is elderly and even his wife is "now old and toothless".
This is why they picked a black actor. "Christianity bad".
Merlin character swapped from an ancient wiseman who is trying to restore England to glory, to a coniving politician who's trying to loot the country and put his gods in place of their own...so they make him black..
Based
There's plenty of black Christians, but whatever.
Only because their mom forces them to go to church on sundays between all the drugs, murder, and violence of the rest of their weeks.
Merlin isn't exactly a "good" character in it.
The true Christian Galahad is exactly a good character.
(At least, in the books.)
Thanks. Honestly now I just read the book (which I need to buy now). I assume they will butcher it. Started when I heard Wheel of Time would be adapted. I went out and got the books.
Get physical copies before they’re “updated.”
What I started doing. Recently found Blazing Saddles dvd at a yard sale
Wait they are making the warlord chronicles into a tv series? What a way to become instantly disappointed.
And just out of curiosity, I wonder what will do with other characters such as:
A slave character, but not a redhead so it's still up in the air. Excitement!
I'm not very familiar with the tale, but Morgan LeFay, Merlin's apprentice, was a woman, right? So which blonde guy was getting that blonde slave girl pregnant?
Assuming there wasn't some magical automatic inseminator, ofc.
Morgan is a woman just Sebile literally fucks around in Avalon. Also she's more or less mad since she was captured and prolonged gang raped by an entire warband of "the good guys".
She's an Anglo-Saxon, not unlike the protagonist (who was captured by the Britons as a child and survived the British Druidical traditional child sacrifice and so Merlin took him as a wonder child). Thus them Arische looks so coveted by implied pedophiles.
It's the kind of series where the relative goody Arthur personally murders a lot of unarmed men and women just because he's mad at his wife having started a sex cult of herself (and whom he doesn't as much as hit for that, or for anything, for he's a cuck and a simp with literally-impotent rage issues, despite Merlin wanting to burn her because Merlin's solutions are sometimes simple and practical when they're not convuloted and incomprehensible as usual, also Merlin is merrily murderous and genocidal against Chr*stians who too have their issues, not least hypocrites everywhere), and everyone slaves and tortures because this is normal.
Except Galahad is a true living saint actually. Which is why he wants to die and go to heaven because this (historically accurate-ish) world is so fucked up. And can't even suicide, for its a huge sin, so he fights. He also thinks better of Arthur than Arthur actually is.
And so does the protagonist-narrator too for that matter, and now he's a huge simp for Arthur. No homo, but he lets Arthur kill his estranged wife in the very same episode I mentioned and doesn't even fault him for that (because Arthur was sad, you see, so understandable have a nice day), so maybe homo. He also simps for Guinevere, who's a ruthless ho with a real beauty privilege (she has her redemption arc later, at around the same time when Nimue gets really evil even for their* standards).
Was that a synopsis of the actual myth, or was that a summary of this shitty show?
