I was almost interested in this game, almost.
The original was interesting for a zombie game. That's not saying much. It was also very buggy. Took several dlc and updates to fix even the achievements.
This is dlc - the main game is pretty decent
That said first one is definitely better
Few games have gone as hard downhill in a sequel as Dying Light. The second was inferior in every gameplay aspect, and insufferable in every story interaction (Rosario fucking Dawson). They even went as far as to nerf parts of it that were fun in the same way (grappling hook) because somehow their new vision for it was misunderstood or some horseshit.
The closest I can recall in such a sharp quality drop was Force Unleashed 1 vs 2, and that was because there was so little effort put in and because LucasArts was being closed so they were out of time and money.
That this game was supposedly bigger and more demanding says so much about how out of touch the industry currently is.
Dead Island 2 looks even worse.
Between the technical issues and this, I've never been happier to have skipped buying a game. I decided to skip it after they sacked Chris Avellone, so I'm not surprised they're going for this ESG flavored BS.
