I was subjected to some commercials when at my sister's place over Thanksgiving and the TV was on.
They're just enraging. Even ignoring the "stupid white man" trope in every goddamn one, they're an insulting waste of time. And they're more than 1/3 of the total screen time. I don't understand how anybody can put up with that, let alone having an un-adblocked internet browser.
And why would you want to? I have used a browser without adblocker very recently and I now remember why I use adblocker: was the most cancerous thing ever...could not see any of the content I was there for, could not close ads and best of all are the ads that play some sorts music.
I really need to set that up. I have most ads blocked except for certain channels on YT, but I can no longer stand the constant Amazon and TikTok ads. I'm pretty sure TikTok owns YT at this point.
Its great, you can sail the high seas and all the javascript pop up ads those sites tend to use, you can block the URL and they get nuked almost instantly when they try to open a new browser window. If one gets through, just add it to the black list via the web management page, and boom, you never see it again. :D
You underestimate the blurring of the lines. Marketing comes in many different forms. The smartest ones have been adapting quite well to a landscape full of people like you and I totally shutting out all honest, upfront advertising.

From one of his tweets:
Maybe you do, my man, but I do not. I have a pi-hole on my network, and use adblock in my browser. I don't see ads.
At all.
Ever.
Unless I want to.
