I do not see much woke stuff related to it, other then "journalists" complaining about female and black representation.
Does this mean it is going to be next?
Got me wondering after find out this anti-white racist, Christian hating dude is a writer on Space Marine 2:
Think about it for a moment. Imagine you are an anti-christian, white-hating wokefaggot 'fortunate' enough to be writing 40k content.
What exactly can you do? Portray the white supersoldiers as evil psychopathic mega-racist retard zealots who are ignorant bigots that don't understand anything around them and just murder their way across the galaxy?
Chad_Yes.jpg
It's like trying to shame ISIS by pointing out their cruelty and misogyny. It doesn't work, because they're fucking PROUD of it.
This isn't to say 40k is immune, but rather that they will have to subvert the very top of the company before they can meaningfully effect the fluff.
Honestly, I expect something along the lines of ditching canon and make female Space Marines, everyone is now black except Titus, some girl bosses to emasculate Titus. I admit I'm not that familiar with the 40k lore but I assume he would take orders from Adepta Sororitas. So a girl boss to peg him is in the realm of possibilities.
At the very least add a Sister of Battle that wanted to be a Space Marine but the Patriarchy did not allow her to fulfil her dream, she will be bigger and stronger then Titus and defeat him in a non-interactive scene. something retarded like that.
GW doesn't allow their lore to pissed on. Whenever Black Library are accepting submissions, they give guidelines that make it pretty clear that you won't get in if you're trying to rewrite their universe.
There's a reason the stakes in 40k videogames are always relatively low -the fate of some random planet in some random corner of the galaxy, usually- despite the options the 40k universe allows. It's because GW literally won't approve anything bigger. You're never defeating a chaos god, you're never saving Terra, you're never opening the terminus decree, you're just NOT doing anything outside the scope of what the fluff lays out as typical affairs.
But lets suppose they did cave and allow what you just described. That gigachad Sister of Battle - probably ascended to the state of living saint... Is still a tool of the emperor. Still a hyperviolent, supremely racist theocratic zealot who cares about nothing but destroying the Xeno, the Mutant, and the Heretic.
Nothing less than a MASSIVE rewrite will poz 40k.
So how did Guillimin resurrection came to be? Seems a little too positive for humans to be in WH40k.
GW decided they needed a way to justify upping the scale of space marine minis to force everyone to buy new space marines, so they needed a lost primarch to come back.
40K is so fundamentally based that it is almost impossible to subtly subvert. The entire universe needs to be destroyed in one go.
They did that with Age of Suckmar.
Age of Ligma.
Step 1 - Emperor finally dies and replaced by a a much superior empress, she will be stronger, compassionate and black. Suddenly The T'au and Eldar want to make peace, because she is that good.
Step 2 - Marines are no longer male only - for inclusivity and all that.
Step 3 - War is problematic and Humans will be the only ones that are evil. Women will control all the Space Marine Chapters cause the true enemy is testosterone.
Yeah, so basically 'throw out absolutely everything all at once'.
Everything in 40k is so anathema to wokeness, so autistically interlinked, and so guarded by GW's high sperglords that the slow, piecemeal degredation they subjected other franchises to over the last decade just doesn't work.
Step 4. Get devoured by slaanesh because rampant degeneracy really helps him/her/it
Am I the only one who thinks that would make a cool villain?
Exactly. It can't be undermined subtly. It has to be a huge rewrite, and that's way way harder to get GW to give the green light to - most of 40k's key lore has gone completely unchanged for over 35 years. This isn't the Marvel or DC universes where there's a reboot every decade or less.
Insert sympathetic portrayals of slaanesh and his worshipers?
That'll just make it even more based when they get brutally annihilated.
I forget which story its in, but there's a scene with a female Tau telling a marine about how harmless and defenseless and peaceful she is, beseeching him for mercy, asking him if his god would be proud of him for such barbarity.
The marine simply replies "Yes." and crushes her into a pulp under his boot.
I say 'female Tau', she is actually referred to as 'The creature'.
On the note of the Tau, they even retconned them to be more in line with the rest of the factions.
OG Tau were the closest thing that 40k had to a "good guy", where while they had some issues, the Tau didnt really have anything screaming out that they were evil. And everyone hated that. They were already pushing it with the very clean, Gundam-esque looks, and now they have nothing evil? Where is the fun in that?!
So they got reworked to where they sterilize all non-Tau races that "join" them, their caste system is played up more to make some of them into inferiors, and they explicitly stated that the Ethereals are brainwashing everyone into compliance for their own political agendas (a la The Prophets from Halo). And that made the Tau actually more popular because they now fit better into the lore and the world.
How exactly are you going to subvert that?
GW's sins continue to be greed and incompetency with handling their product line. But compared to Woke subversion, these are preferable sins.
I seem to recall a Lefty article doing something very similar to that. I think there was a video about it on the Sargon of Akkad YouTube channel a while back.
With Henry Cavill and Amazon working on a series it'll get mainstream exposure. THAT's when the real destruction begins. "What do you mean that women can't be space marines?" "What do you mean interspecies romance is forbidden?" "The Necron use Egyptian imagery, which means they're canonically black. It's wrong to present them as villains." "The Emperor of Mankind should be black. And gay. And an empress. Of Peoplekind."
That's the danger.
The danger is that the show is actually good and becomes massively popular outside the typical warhammer fanbase.
The whole reason the show is even being made at all is, I suspect, because GW know that the tabletop miniatures business is only going to withstand the 3D printer revolution for so long. GW have leaned into more and more media over the last decade because they can 100% see that sooner or later, every single hobbyist is going to have a 3D printer, and their luxury goods style of pricing simply will not hold up against it forever.
As soon as the bulk of the fanbase is from outside the turboautist niche, the financial incentive for their religious adherence to the canon will be gone, replaced with the incentive to chase current trends. And that's when we'll be in danger of major rewrites.
I assume that is the 2 year plan. I would be surprised if it was not baked in to the series.
It's kinda like when Tumbler invaded 4chan that one time, they go in thinking they can take it over, they find a void with a lidless eye starring at them
It's too much that they can't handle it in a universe where a genocide serves the greater good because the alternative is actually worse.
he doesn't know
Warhammer is more resistant than other works as attempting to shove woke crap into it will rape the canon.
What will most likely happen is that 40k will get quietly phased out and age of sigma will replace it like it did with the original warhammer.
You sweet summer child.
How about the fact that emperor couldn't even create space marines without bowing to a powerful female?
How about the fact that primarchs were scattered because a powerful female considered that emps is not worth of being their father?
And this notion is repeated in primarchs themselves having potent sisterly/motherly figures that nag them about how useless they are, Perturabo being the prime example.
And there's no need for the female space marines - you're forgetting that space marines are brainwashed child soldiers who are inherently evil, and obviously no one likes them as the heroes, they're enjoyed as a totalitarian regime satire. You're forgetting that Brazil's setting is peak liberalism when compared to Empire.
And non-marines are being slowly rotated for more inclusive characters - how about Ursakar E. Creed's daughter who's even more genius commander than him? Oh, looks like a butch lesbian too.
How about sisters of battle being hit by an ugly stick? Same goes for Slaanesh and his daemonettes suddenly becoming sex negative - you know, they're about excess and sex is, like, the boring version of it. Real daemonettes don't show boobies and are fugly because, erm, well, derp.
All that's saying is something that could've come out of The Imp's mouth
So it already started.
Do you think it is late to get in to the hobby? I was hoping for at least 3 years or so of non-woke content.
It's a tough question. Warhammer as a hobby really isn't about the story - it's about painting minis (and, last time I checked, there's so much knock-offs and/or 3d Print schemes going around, that you don't really have to pay a single penny to GW; or you can buy the old, uncorrupted stuff from ebay, I guess) and it's about interacting with your local community.
So it's less about the overall game being woke and more about players in your particular stores/hobby centers being woke or not - check that out first.
Nobody tell anyone in this thread about Erda. Honestly Games Workshop had to make a choice between embracing their history or capitulating to the left's perceived bogeyman in the Imperium of Man. Their choice in the lore so far is clear, whether they decide to course correct or not is another question.
Is it still worth getting in to the game?
