Yeah but World's End Harem is a generic harem anime with a pussy protagonist who seems to think that it isn't his duty and obligation to repopulate the world. Instead of doing that he "saves himself" for his childhood friend who doesn't want to have sex because she's a fucking moron.
I could see if they were writing for a young girl audience, twue wuv overcoming societal hardship even when it is 100% both logical and moral for it not to. But World's End Harem is very clearly written for a male audience, not disney princess wannabes.
Parallel Paradise does it better. Guy gets isekai'd, world of all hot young women... Because they all die when they turn 19. Getting pregnant breaks the curse. He's the only male left on the planet. He's smitten with one bonnie lass, but any woman 18 years of age, he offers to sleep with to try to save them, as he journeys to figure out how to stop the curse entirely. His girl knows he's doing this, and also acknowledges it as an unfortunate necessity.
It's still borderline-H pure selling-on-sex-appeal manga, but at least the MCs know that "last male on Earth" is actually on some level a responsibility, not some funtime background note.
The only reason I can think of is so that it can be ecchi but not full on hentai. Which is still stupid because that plot would be perfect for full on hentai but it's handicapped as an ecchi anime.
There are a few episodes from the Twilight Zone or similar kinds of show where something like this happens.
General story setting: Random guy wakes up after 50 years of suspended animation and he's the only man left. Women are now all lesbians with wives because there isn't any other option, reproduction happens because of science and all children are female, nobody murders anymore, when suddenly the guy shows up and stirs the loins of one of the young female characters.
Up until this point the story is mirrored in a lot of the episodes dealing with this situation.
In one version the guy sleeps with the woman but then gets murdered by the leading council of women because they consider him dangerous therefore he should be... murdered 🙄 Episode ends with the now pregnant woman learning her child is male.
Another version has a nearby group of women in control of electricity distribution and the small commune at the center of the story needs more but gets denied by some ruling group. The guy suggests taking the electricity by force. One of the older women in the commune voices her opposition to the plan while a younger one supports the guy. Long story short while trying to get the electricity the supporting woman accidentally kills another when a fight breaks out. This gets blamed on the guy stirring up trouble and it gets voted he go back into suspended animation. Episode ends with older woman standing over the man as he gets put back to sleep and she lets slip details that reveal she was originally the guy's wife back before all the men died.
None of those are realistic. If all men disappeared society would drop to a level that would make caveman society look advanced. Women would go bat shit nuts and start mutilating each other and themselves... like they are now.
Interesting post, but this one continues to annoy me. Women only do less murdering because men are around and it's easier to avoid risk to herself by getting a man to act out the violence she benefits from, with little risk to her.
With no men around women would simply start enacting violence themselves instead. The first school shooter was a woman who said her only regret was not shooting more people and that "it was fun". There were early teen girls in wisconsin who lured their friend into the woods, stabbed her repeatedly, and left her for dead.
You wouldn't believe how memable the entire movie is. Every kid in Poland too young to even watch this film unconsciously knows at least two quotes from it, because so many quotes became staples in day to day conversations.
I'm seriously yet to see any western movie which had so many quotes from it become so common in normal conversations
I can’t believe TheImp is still banned and someone posted his favorite film!
Sounds funny. How old is it?

I really don't get why you would write the story like that in that genre. It's so stupid.
It really is.

"Fuck humanity (by not fucking humanity), I just want to hold hands!"

Yeah I remember a modern The Outer Limits episode on the topic.

Comedy from 1984. Oh the irony of 2022.
I’ll have to check it out.
Aaaaand it's gone.
But here's a bitchute link https://www.bitchute.com/video/ocHuxigvSksn/
Sounds like Y: The Last Man.
Except actually like the comics.
And probably came out much earlier.
Every story has been done.
Damn, it has a 7.5/10 on IMDB... that's better than most movies. Must have a great cult following or something. I need to watch this lol.
