Joel: nooooo, they shot my wife's daughter!
Wife's boyfriends daughter*
Isn't that woketard Mandalorian dude playing Joel? So that is 100% feasible.
See how racist they are! They can't bear a white girl being shot and dying in the arms of her father so they gotta make her black to cope with it!
Only way to make it more authentic now is black Sarah dying alone as why would her father be there? /s
The race swap is obnoxious (especially since she's sporting one of those hairstyles to further scream "LOOK AT MY BLACKNESS!"), but what I find really ridiculous here is how they're casting an 18-year-old to play a character who was supposed to be a child, aged 12 at most. Sorry, but seeing a teen with an obnoxious resting bitch face like that die is not going to have anywhere near the same impact. Unless of course...the idea is that she's not actually going to die in this adaptation? It's pretty suspicious how they're advertising the casting for a glorified extra, and Hollywood frowns on anything bad happening to pee-oh-sees.
On another topic, does anyone else find it funny how the photographs of the actors playing Joel and Ellie look so fake and soulless, like they're just phoning it in, while the promotional arts and renders for the original game look more emotional?
Other than the appeal to coomer incest/FD fetish of course
Typically they do this because the regulations around performance for children are far far more strict than for an adult. You actually see this quite often, get a young enough looking adult and you get the performance you want without having to go through a bunch of extra red tape around "muh safety". Especially if they are a teenager, Have the kid be played by an adult or just make them an adult to be tidier
Inb4 she has her own diverse tlou spinoff show
Naturally, I say this hoping you don't bring up cuties or balenciaga which prove these rules don't actually matter that much anymore
She's not really going to die and then come back for righteousness vengeance against Joel for abandoning her.
If she doesn't die then it's easy to call it non-cannon, like the second game
Because cannon isn't decided by the companies or media, its the audience. We can say this isn't cannon, the Disney Star Wars isn't cannon and that one messed up doujin, JoJo ending IS cannon!
An odd reference, but a welcome one.
Or she will show up later "surprise I'm not dead you evil huwhyte mayal!"
Mad scramble to out woke an already woke franchise. Couldn't bring myself to even care. Not even a little bit.
Or her boyfriend
She's probably going to be one of those loud "Aw naw yoo DI'INT!" types who SHOUTS every word at the top of her lungs and never shuts the hell up. And yet despite that obnoxious attitude, she's going to be a powerful executive girlboss in some corporation. And yet despite that, nobody on the board will ever listen to her because they're all a bunch of racist white men, despite the fact that they're the ones who put her on the board in the first place, which would imply they were quite willing to listen to her actually. Unless of course, they only put her on the board as a diversity hire and she's pissed off about that, but then that would raise some uncomfortable questions about affirmative action as well as the choice to cast her in this show in the first place (and Parker as her daughter), but hey, when have we ever known Hollywood and leftists for their consistency?
I'm sure she will show up
Can't race swap Joel
Druckmann said he's the real bad guy
Ellie looks off, the face is weird
What excuse do they have? Now we can expect the articles calling this brave. I played the first game a little. I remember rolling my eyes when they made her gay because I noticed massive great reviews especially when the trailer for the second game came out. But I hear the first game was fun.
And watch it die, just like the game did.
So...not a man? I guess this is a step up from the Abby bullshit.
