My government keeps increasing minimum wage, hopefully this expedites the rise of the machine overlords as they work their way up the chain of command.

I've been warning people this was where it was heading. Vending machines only died because people weren't innovative enough to get ahead of cheaper labor. You can build a coin operated machine small enough to slice deli meats and cheeses just as simply as you can build one to make a pizza. It's all about whether you can get entrepreneurs to invest and expand far enough to be a household name before the novelty wears off and people miss their old options more.
I see escape rooms in a similar way. It's an automated experience. The less people moving the switches, the easier it will be to maintain.
McDonalds is effectively an automat at my local store - online ordering either via phone or at the kiosk inside, then pick up your food. Rarely is anyone at the cash register.
The food making itself is just a bunch of lists and devices to quickly make things. If they took out the teenager making it, there wouldn't be a difference.
My local burger king had a grand total of 2 people running the restaurant during covid - one overworked lady taking the orders, filling drinks and fries and bagging the orders and one guy at the grill.
Max efficiency.
Soon it will just be the lady, and she will be filling bags and handing out cups.
College students delighted by 2am sandwich. Some bar. But that was the last time I ate subway regularly, too. Once you have more than 4 dollars at a time, or even your own kitchen in which to make a sandwich, subway not look so good.
And I am starting to figure out the tune.
