Red flags from the trailer alone:
Issac Clarke is a voiced protagonist
They are using Dead Space 2 game design (jet boots a massive giveaway), while I liked Dead Space 2, it was action focused, it had none of the dread, claustrophobia, uneasiness and paranoia of the original
So they probably fucked it up, glad I have my original disc and a PS3 in storage still.
According to Motive, they've only added lines so Isaac's a participant instead of awkwardly standing around and getting talked at by the other characters. I just hope Isaac doesn't feel the need to take his helmet off every five minutes like the sequels did, especially DS3.
I actually liked that, if I remember right there were entries written by him in the game where it more or less seemed he was barely holding it together. Him being silent might have been a coping mechanism basically saying "If I do what's required and don't interact, I might be able to get out of here alive and just forget this nightmare ever happened "
Him talking later in Dead Space 2 makes sense from that perspective as it's now "the nightmare never left me, it stalks me awake and in my sleep, what the fuck do you want!"
2 was a more fleshed out experience to be honest. I just have low faith because of how insulting their pc port was. EA has shown where their priorities lay.
True but I loved the sense throughout that you always arrived 'just too late' so all you see is the aftermath
So speaking about 'your friend', how many times during this playthrough did they grab a crucifix and chant passages from the bible to ward off demons they thought they saw in the corner of their eye?
And the Markers are good because they're just allowing people to "celebrate neurodivergence".

I'll have to replay the original to be sure but the lighting in the trailer looks to bright compared to what I remember but I assume you can change it in settings. My biggest problem is why did they do a remake to begin with, other then milk it? This 70$ for slightly better graphics and some lines of dialogues for Issac. Is the same problem I had with the ME trilogy.
I hope Issac being voiced just adds very few lines of dialogue and not turn it in to Forespoken.

I'll be controversial and say that I'm actually looking forward to this remake, along with Callisto Protocol and RE4make. I guess I'm basic like that.
But goddamn, the Ishimura is brown. I know the original Dead Space had an "oil rig in space" aesthetic, but you still had sterile steel corridors like in the medical deck to break things up.
I have to ask why? Dead Space graphics are not bad, you would be paying 70$ for a minor graphical upgrade. For RE4 remake, I'm not sure what to think. I would not mind a graphical update for it if it was cheap - 15$ or so and left the game as is but they did "updated it for modern audiences". Granted the changes are minor, like removing some lines of dialogue and changed the sexy outfit for Ada, but I would not put it pass them to turn Ashly in to some boss bitch lady that busts Leon's balls. RE3 remake already made Jill insufferable at times.
