As if there is a functional difference between the government and corporations with regard to punishing wrong think.

I think corporations get away with it much more easily.

He's apparently trying to style himself as the next 'Tony Blair' of the Labour Party. Which despite how much I despise that snake oil salesman, this guy has none of his charm or wit to be even 1% of that, still can't tell me what a woman is.

As for the energy issue, nationalising it will make a bad problem worse, look at how long they took to try and build one new nuclear plant and they're still nowhere near started.

Privatize energy

Good ending: Companies enjoy free market and minimize costs for the customer, everyone wins, happiness everywhere

Bad ending: mysterious long nosed individuals own all the energy companies and with no competition they raise prices and do whatever they want

Nationalize energy

Good ending: Powerful and respectable leader lowers costs, with threats of rolling heads if the order is not obeyed

Bad ending: Long nosed mysterious individuals who own the government and with no competition they raise prices and do whatever they want

Elsewhere in the interview, Renzi mentioned that he is “exactly the opposite of Giorgia Meloni, because she is a sovereigntist and I’m for Europe”

That's an astonishing level of honesty. Imagine actually admitting that you favour a foreign entity over the country you're trying to govern. No wonder he lost.

Ending foreign ownership of British energy production is 100% necessary, although I'm very, very skeptical about the ability of a Labour government to effectively manage it.
