Followed by black male gamers and asian male gamers who don't like ugly female protagonist any more than their mayo demon counterparts.
Those stats are so misleading. They are doing precantage of black people, youth in general. They fail to understand that 82% of blacks is still very small compared to 71% of white people or 69% of hispanics. It also does not take in to account white hispanics. I now that a lot of hispanics no longer identify as whites for obvious reasons but a lot of them are still very much white passing, a lot of them have a good percentage of European DNA to begin with.
This does not even take in to account the global markets, EU I assume is a large market and has little in terms of black people. Asians are not particularly keen on black people either.
It also forces the idea that because white people are becoming a minority in the US, the thing that is both a conspiracy theory and a reason for celebration from the left, that somehow it means we need more black people in media. The bigest increase in demographics is from hispanics and not blacks. You can argue for more hispanics but even then, hispanics are a culture more then an ethnicity.
They also cook the books with the male/female player rates because they count mobile fuckstick game players as "gamers" and then tout the OMG LOOK AT ALL THE GIRL GAMERS! WOW! GIRLS PLAY GAMES TOO! tripe.
Not that it matters. If a survey says 85% of gamers are men, they say "This proves games are sexist, so we should have more women in games and game development."
If a survey says 55% of gamers are women, they say "This proves women are the most important audience for games, so we should have more women in games and game development to serve that audience."
No matter the input, the output is the same.
Yeah it's funny the initial priority LULAC or whatever wanted was to be counted as white. Which had some precedent. At some point Italians and Irish weren't counted as white. Jews now are, generally and at least according to the government, whereas they weren't before.
Black male gamers play almost exclusively sports games or specific fighting games. They play it in enough numbers to help keep those games afloat, but barely touch anything outside of it.
Trying to get one to play a non-console game, or another genre (outside sometimes AAA FPS games) is always a failing move.
I would think worldwide it would not be dominated by white gamers, because most of the world is not white. However, males play more games everywhere.
