> Doesn't count federal taxes

> Doesn't disclose medians

> Doesn't talk about federal tax deductions for state taxes

This is not a serious article.

I’ve posted on this before, but California has been on a crash course in taxes since Governor Arnold. Take it for what you will but they peaked at 76/100 under him and were 99/100 around 2016

Back when I was moving to Texas, people in the same circumstances told me that every dollar that was freed up by lower income taxes was consumed by higher property taxes. However, this was about a decade ago, and California has continuously raised income tax since then, while housing prices have continued to rise in both states.

Paying more sales tax is probably due to having more income free to spend on taxable items, lol. Rent don't have sales tax.

Taxes are a way of humiliation for the lower classes, both your fed and our ecb are printing money for the rich who do not pay any taxes.

They are either just lying or totally fudging numbers in some way. I took my very middle class house and my very middle class income and got some rough calculations assuming I was in suburban San Diego instead of suburban Texas. Property+Income Tax came out about 50% more than what I pay for property tax in Texas. Only other taxes I've ever paid here are < $100 for car registration annually, sales taxes, and federal income tax. Oh, and the house I would get in San Diego for the same money would be about 1500 sq ft short of my house in Texas. So, I guess California would be great if I were a leftist that wants to pay 50% more tax and live in a 500sqft shitbox.

Maybe because Texas has more people that work, buy stuff, have families, can go outside without it smelling of shit....

They're playing stupid games. For instance, they count the tax incidence of property tax on landlords as on renters, but the tax incidence of income tax on landlords on the landlords themselves.

The source of this is the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, a left wing think tank.

Lots of companies are headquartered in Texas, right?

There is a step everyone is skipping. Texans pay their actual amount owed, and the Californians don't. Then they accuse Texans of being stupid for believing in capitalism.
