If Ukraine's new offensive captures Kupiansk, the entire Russian Izyum front will be pocketed and cut off except for three small roads heading east [Zarichne, Makiivka, Pershotravneve] This is the first serious UKR offensive of the war. (media.kotakuinaction2.win)

Not according to the map. Ukraine is at the gates of the target city already.

I'm still shocked at how weak Russia is. I understand Ukraine got a lot of help but still I'm surprised.

what the fuck you think the war is, Ballons TD? Russia threw everything they could. Only escalations can be: mobilization or nukes.

Pretty sure there is something between the present and mobilization.

Hell, they could have used artillery to level Kiev to the ground. Why they didn't, but particularly why creeps like Von der Leyen are safe walking the streets of Kiev as they work with the genocidal regime in Azerbaijan, is a mystery.

Russia is actually running a hearts and minds campaign. If they wanted to level Ukraine, they could do so in a matter of days. But Ukraine isn’t a middle eastern shithole thousands of miles away. It’s an ethnically Russian neighbor state.

Probably. Either that, or extreme incompetence in not hitting barracks in the first few days, assuming en masse surrenders. Sort of like a reverse shock and awe.

It’s an ethnically Russian neighbor state.

I think opinion of the Russian public and political nation would not stand for leveling Ukraine. The battle for Ukrainian hearts and minds is probably lost, now they have to be battered into submission.

I fear that as more hatred is stoked by this conflict, they will see each other as enemies more and more, and legitimate targets for some truly horrendous attacks. The Russians more than the Ukrainians, as they're already shelling civilians and shooting POWs in the knee.

This is some major cope. Russian convoys were getting hit nonstop during their run on Kyiv, because russians didn't take major cities between border and Kyiv. Literally had thousands of Ukranian troops in their rear.

And Russians are trying to level cities. Because they cannot capture them in any other way. Mariupol, Severodonetsk. Completely destroyed. Kharkiv is under daily shelling.

Russians are now being pushed in the North. Ukraine has recaptured more land in the last week than Russia captured in in the last 4 months.

Stop coping and look at the reality.

Russian convoys were getting hit nonstop during their run on Kyiv, because russians didn't take major cities between border and Kyiv.

They gambled on a quick collapse and it didn't pay off.

Also, it's spelled Kiev. Not sure why you'd go along with the tardation. You seem to have some intelligent things to say, but then you act like a Ukraine flag Twitter user on that score.

Literally had thousands of Ukranian troops in their rear.

Sort of like Barbarossa, right. But less successful.

And Russians are trying to level cities. Because they cannot capture them in any other way. Mariupol, Severodonetsk. Completely destroyed. Kharkiv is under daily shelling.

And like even Western-backed Amnesty has stated, Ukraine uses civilians cities as human shields. If even the WW2-era Germans, their heroes, had done this in World War II, Rome would have been leveled, Paris would have been leveled. But were declared open cities instead.

Ukraine has recaptured more land in the last week than Russia captured in in the last 4 months.

Let's see if it lasts, or if it ends like their Kherson "offensive" which mostly killed their own troops. All sacrificed to American imperialism and Western hegemony.

Stop coping and look at the reality.

It's difficult to discern what is true and what is propaganda. E.g. Ukraine regularly claims that there were Russian gains in a given area, in order to later on claim that they were pushed back. Obviously, I don't trust the Russians either, but we're not inundated with their propaganda like we are with the of the Ghost of Kievs.

they could have used artillery to level Kiev to the ground.

Russia never had a lot of artillery in range of Kiev, let alone the logistics capacity to bring up enough ammo to do much damage to Kiev. They only had a small number spread out in range of the outskirts, and they were constantly forced to use it defensively since they were overextended and trying to hold on to their overextended lines for a few weeks until they withdrew.

Russia's "big artillery" offensive around Lysychans'k later was only possible because that area was much closer to Russian logistics hubs so they could move up a huge volume of artillery ammo every day. This wasn't possible anywhere near Kiev. I'm sure you remember the "convoy" of miles and miles of backed up russian vehicles in the first weeks of the war, that was because the attack on Kiev had no rail support, so Russia was forced to inefficiently use their inadequate truck transport over a long distance on one small road.

My bet is that this is yet another political offensive that will lead to UAF forces being pocketed and utterly annihilated and/or captured.

Is anyone else reminded of the scene at the end of 1984, where Winston is cheering for some military maneuver succeeding somewhere in East/Eurasia?
