Just an idea, but movies have a very small time commitment compared to books, and can tie into hidden gems. I think it would be cathartic to find good entertainment in a movie when they actually had some purpose and true storytelling. My first nomination would be Princess Mononoke, but as a weekly or biweekly commitment for actual discussion would be healthy for the community and create a crowdsourcing for our precious storytelling without woke influence.

I’m in, I nominate Falling Down.
Seconded.
now we're talking
Movie might be more interesting as an event where everyone watches it at the same time. Could be a use for the (currently unused) Matrix channel.
True, do a group movie night and a general forum discussion after for those that can’t do the live watch.
Holy shit, just thought of Batman: mask of the phantasm. Another great cinematic experience that is definitely worth adding to the list for gaming/ nerd culture.
I would join this discussion.
I recently rewatched that and just didn't enjoy it like I did as a kid. Maybe the plot was too silly or I couldn't buy the premise/plot twist.
The Animated Series still holds up though. I can't think of another cartoon series that nails everything so perfectly.
My suggestion would be African Kung Fu Nazis (2019). It's one of the best movies Ghana has to offer, and is also an excellent advertisement for Adonko bitters.
I'd be interested, but I also said that for book club and only participated in like 1.5 of them
That’s the difference a book a month is still a big commitment, especially with the size of most books. As the joke used to be writing a book report off the movie. That’s why I think a movie club with 2 movies a month would be far easier to find the time and source where to watch for each movie!
Mandy (2018)
Good atmosherics, but the story is anticlimactic. The revenge deaths are pretty much meaningless and the unwieldy weapon he made just crosses the border of disbelief.
The Good, The Bad, and The Weird.
A Korean spaghetti western.
Time for kia2 movie nights on Saturday
I think this is a great idea, and I emphatically second Princess Mononoke.
A great recent, shock horror, movie I saw not long ago is The Father. I would recommend it. Smartly made, no pretension, great acting, and moving. It's a story about dementia through the eyes of someone suffering from it. It really makes you understand their confusion and helplessness.
I’m a horror cinephile, will definitely check it out!
The horror season is starting again.
You might have read me wrong but I suppose it is a horror in a way. It's heartbreaking.
Heartbreaking or emotionally moving works for me too. It’s hard to find cinema with real intent anymore in general.
This is a really good idea. I'd like to participate in the book club but I just don't have the time. It would be way easier for me to find a couple hours every so often to watch a movie.
Stickied. Let me know about any future posts.
