Cultural appropriation is okay when they do it.
"With that huge caveat out of the way, is it any good? Actually, it’s great – as long as you can get over the Celtic “othering”, which I’m not sure is worth the effort."
Even after all that, he still shills for this trash.
Amazon spent good money on their review.
Super enthusiastic, some more money "well spent" if so.
It's (D)ifferent and (A)cceptable.
The Candyman will not be happy, not one bit. The greatest Irish man of the last 2,000 years will have his revenge, and when he has it, no one will ever speak badly about the Irish race again.
I told you once, I told you twice
The Candyman he don't play nice
Why even put hobbits in a story about the second age? So fucking stupid.
I'm sure their thought process didn't go beyond: "The Lord of the Rings has Hobbits, so we need to have Hobbits".
I believe it.
Studios think that audiences are idiots who need to be constantly reminded that derivative works are a part of the same universe that spawned them (Looking at you Rogue One, with your continuous shout-outs to the original Star Wars).
I guess they are technically not hobbits? [but yeah they are basically 100% hobbits :P]
They technically are hobbits but for some reason Amazon says otherwise.
I think it's because they own the rights to the term "Hobbit". They only purchased the appendices of the Silmarillion (I believe) which didn't have Hobbits in them because they didn't exist during that age yet.
Oh I thought they were supposed to be some evolutionary predecessor to the hobbits..... which are basically exactly the same as hobbits? I dunno whichever :P I could be wrong just what I heard lol.
I heard amazon like didn't have the right to use the term hobbit or is that not true?
In the legendarium the harfoots, stoors and fallohides are distinct groups of hobbits that mixed during the early-mid third age but they were all hobbits already. And late third age hobbits are mostly harfoot anyway.
No one wants that, now a series starring a black Scottish cyclops would be worth watching....
they got more *********************************************** than the likes of that.
Whatever happened to Dave Cullen, the Computing Forever guy who was thrown off YouTube last year?
He was one of the sanest voices out of Ireland over the last ten years.
Looks like he's landed on Gab.
Either he got his YT channel back or he's using his other channel, because he's there.
Also on Odysee.
That's his TV/movie channel. His Computing Forever channel is also on Odysee
Hobbits were written by Tolkein as a fantasy representation of the rural English commoner, the working class common folk who he felt epitomized the English spirit.
That being the case, it makes perfect sense that they would put them down as dirty, uncultured simpletons... which is exactly what the Left thinks about rural people.
Well, they made them Irish, so...
The Shire was Tolkien's Kaczynskiesque romantic vision of an old England. Why do they have Irish accents? They actually should sound like the Peaky Blinders.
