Went to the movies for the first time in years recently, and was annoyed but not at all surprised about how almost EVERY PREVIEW of upcoming films was about a black woman being scared of or fighting against white men. The exceptions being Black Adam, though they had to throw in a joke about rolling up windows when he shows up, so the implication is clear, and Dungeons and Dragons, where the white man is a useless clown who one of the female characters straight up says doesnt belong in the party. Its madness how blatant it is. If normies dont start waking up to this shit now, they never will.

Coincidentally, the movie I went to see was an anime (DBS Super Hero). The theater was packed too, and people were hooting and hollering and just having a good time. Compared to the trailers where everyone was dead silent, it really said alot.
Its DragonBall. One of the few things that can bring nerdy white boys, hardcore black thugs, and all of South America together. The Mexico City viral video of them cheering and screaming watching an episode was so beloved by the production crew it inspired the entire soundtrack to the Broly movie.
And if we know anything about black people in movie theaters, they ain't quiet. In my experience, latinos ain't much better. Its pretty great for shows like this.
How was DB Super Hero?
I am thinking of seeing it soon.
Mostly fanservice strung together with a pretty haphazard plot. Way too much exposition. The final villain was a lame raid boss and the new transformations were also mostly meh. I dont regret seeing it and had some fun, but overall it was fairly mediocre.
Too much exposition? From the franchise that brought us 22-minute long episodes of powering up for one attack?
Of those 22 minutes, a good chunk is ''in the previous episode'' and ''in the next episode''.
Watching those as a kid was frustrating. Basically nothing happened. The manga was fun.
I heard the fight scenes were the best in the franchise.
Thanks!
The trailers for the film make it seem like a Gohan and Piccolo movie so I will probably still check it out.
Gohan has been relegated to being a loser in DBS so it would be nice to see him actually win or get a new form.
I really liked it. Toriyama wrote this one so he strung together a lot of some of the original story along with a new one.
The final villain was a let down, but it was still a lot of fun.
YMMV but it can be simplified down to Cell Games 2.0
Spoilers below.
You're not wrong considering how many parallels there are between the Cell arc and this new movie when considering the two protags.
Piccolo gets a new transformation, like he did when merging with Kami. And it's mostly useless in the end.
The big bad is... Cell. Again.
Gohan beats the big bad because he thinks Cell kills Piccolo, as happened with Android 16 in the original DBZ. He even takes on an appearance of SSJ2 but with Ultra Instinct coloured hair.
The big bad is eventually killed by a [father/on] combination attack from Gohan and Piccolo, who obvs isn't dead, much like how OG Perfect Cell was killed by a father/son combination Kamehamaha.
The movie is pretty much a mash up of the Cell arc [as explained above] with some elements of the DBZ movies that kept bringing Brolly back just to be defeated by Gohan so he still appeared useful.
But as with most anime movies the events in them are rarely ever canon so will probably never be mentioned or seen again. Even with Brolly taking place after the Tournament of Power no references were made to Kale despite the similarities in their power and the actual LSSJ transformation is so brief that doesn't even get commented on in the Brolly movie.
At least now they are set in the anime at times which make sense. Cooler shows in the timeskip while everyone trains to fight the androids and is never mentioned again. Twice. OG Brolly took place sometime after Goku and Gohan emerge from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber since Gohan can turn SSJ1 but it's still before the Cell Games start. Except in the anime there wasn't any time for that to happen as Vegeta was busy training a second time in the HTC.
And more than anything the power creep as of the Tournament of Power is both absurd at this point and often flat out ignored. Krillen beats Gohan in a sparring match because "Gohan is rusty". SSJ1, 2, 3, God, Blue, and even Vegeta's new Royal Blue mean almost nothing when someone just needs to "train a little" as was the case when Android 17 was able to keep up with Goku in SSJBlue prior to the Tournament.
