So long as we have the original books and film Trilogy (maybe parts of the Hobbit Trilogy as they weren't terrible, just dragged out and unnecessary changes in places) the story and fantasy will always live on

Vidya is part of it and what Embracer's most famous for, but actually they seem to have bought the entirety of Middle-earth Enterprises (covering even the film rights) from the Saul Zaentz Company. Unfortunately I forgot to update that part of the title before hitting 'post' and can't seem to edit titles on .win.
At least we have the movies and cartoons. I would have loved a Beren and Luthien story. I doubt the Children of Hurin would be allowed. The rest is just gone.
It’s not much doom and gloom yet. The company that they are touting (Asmodee, now Twin Sails) makes some decent games. They published the Gloomhaven and made a few decent board game video game conversions. From the sounds of it, they might be stretching their wings for other games. Not sure about the other rights, though. Have to wait and see but not sure if it can get worst than now.
They will likely handle it about the same as what amazon is doing considering they are an ESG company.
