CNBC: These are the top 10 best and worst places to live in the world—and you won’t find the U.S. on either list (archive.ph)

Although 18 different countries are represented on these lists, you won’t find the U.S. ranked in the top 10 on either one. A representative for EIU told CNBC Make It via email that Atlanta, Georgia ranked as the most liveable US city, at number 26 on the list, while Washington D.C. came in close behind at number 30.

Atlanta and DC….

No one who works in DC lives in DC! They live in the northern tip of Virginia.

They must have some quality parameters if DC is considered a top place to live within the US.

This is true of most so-called "nice" places.

If you have a lot of money, they are nice.

If you have some money, they can be nice as long as you spend most of your money living in the nice areas (this is where that first group want you to be).

If you don't have some money (or don't wish to spend most of it on where you live) they are not nice.

I don't really get how Atlanta ranks as affordable. I know that corps look at the wages and think "jackpot." But the wages don't support the housing prices unless you go way, way out of town. Which, I guess explains why most people seem to spend 3 hours a day in the car.

This week, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) released their Global Liveability Index ranking

Let's see who they are.

Oh what do you know. They're an ESG pusher:

Pretty much what I would have expected from that list.

That list is almost exactly like I figured it would be, wow.

Funny thing is, if I were going to list places better than the US, one major criteria would be lower taxes. Their list meanwhile is, predictably, all incredibly highly taxed, and or tyrannical shitholes.

Also worth pointing out that most of these are/were predominantly or exclusively white. It's always funny when they do that.
