My depression is a result of seeing the world go to shit while having neither the will nor the capacity to save it. I imagine it is much the same for most depressed people, even if they don’t realize it.
The powers that shouldn't be want you anxious about the world. It makes people easier to control. Stop worrying about the whole world and concern yourself with the things you can change in your personal life. If sites like this are blackpilling you too hard, turn it off.
Hiking, girl friend, lifting, and puppies are the best ways for men to overcome depression.
Here is all the bad news all day every day 24/7. Not only is it bad but there is a lot of contradictory news and guilt shoveling. It’s YOUR fault the world is shit. Make sure you know it’s your fault by watching our news channel and downloading our app.
Depressed? Take these pills and don’t question their effectiveness. Don’t worry they are temporary. That’s why your doctor will keep upping the dose time and again over time until you have to keep taking the pills just to feel what it was like before taking the pills.
The media needs you hooked on their fear porn. Big pharma needs you hooked on their mind meds.
Antidepressants are terrible. I’ve taken anti-anxiety meds before and they make you feel drowsy or chill. I’ve taken antidepressants before and they make you feel like shit. Seriously the side effects are terrible. Then they tell you you’ll get used to the side effects. It’s awful.
Our children are told there is no God, their lives have no ultimate meaning, the universe is just the product of an accidental cosmic burp, they're just going to rot in the ground when they die, and there's no point to it all, so they may as well be apathetic while they're here, because no one cares.
Why anyone would take an article or anything put out by The Guardian, much less promoted by that crap site, seriously makes one wonder about the biases of the people agreeing with it. Most science in the past 20 years has been crushed in peer review. If I remember right, it was around 70% was totally debunked in peer review. Not saying that the scientist is wrong, but I'm skeptical.
Though I will say that, most people being treated with SSRIs are not likely suffering from clinical depression. Both psychology and pharmacology have been pushed to extremes and have been shown to have lost allot of their respectability, trustworthiness, and ethics due to political, financial, and social pressures. Pharmaceutical companies have been pushing drugs on the population for awhile now. That doctors and these companies work hand in hand for profit makes all suspect.
As for the people claiming clinical depression doesn't exist, well, they're idiots. I've had depression since six. I've been institutionalized and met many others that suffer from it and can barely function. It's as real as the Sun and Earth.
Depression is often not a chemical imbalance. It is a state of being stuck in a negative emotional position. The brain, through trauma, and continued reinforcement of that trauma, has been trained to expect and experience mainly this negative state. Positive emotions, a sense of well-being, is not beyond reach, feeling normal and having desire to continue can be achieved through proper mental and physical therapeutics. It takes time and determination, but will never fully be achieved.
As in all things, it is the struggle that is important.
My opinion its usually external factors that the depressed person is or chooses to be powerless to control. Me personally I'd blame things like family issues especially when I was younger or the government abruptly shutting down most of what made up my life. Getting through it by perhaps seeing others frustrated on the internet or venting to that one friend who just says "yeah I get it" whether they do or not and spends time goofing around and taking your mind off it. Eventually I work it out in my head and move on. Try to learn from the experience.
I see in a lot of people they must have an external reason that they have no part in for everything. Extended tiredness must be "long Covid" and couldn't possibly be diet and exercise. Depression can't be because they won't stand up for themselves (even at a price) in a toxic relationship but it must be an external chemical imbalance they can get drugged away. Or no you couldn't possibly just be awkward because you're
growing up, you must really be a boy in a girls body.
I'm not trying to necessarily blame people for their problems. Sure, there's the straight teen surrounded by parents and teachers who are tranny groomers or plenty of other examples of being stuck between a rock and a hard place, just my observations a lot of people can't answer the simple question of "What are you doing to improve your situation?" Without demanding a quick fix when one doesn't exist.
Its defintely not fake, I went through a bout of depression a year ago due to nerve damage from a stomach condition I had. Just had to change my diet and up my B12 intake and it fixed itself up, but it was a real thing.
I will agree it is self misdiagnosed for most people and they are just lazy and unmotivated like you say
The problem isn't whether it's 'real' or not. Of course it's real. Feeling sad is real. Everyone feels sad.
What's retarded is calling it a 'disease'. Like someone with their arm chopped off is 'suffering from bleeding disease.' And they just get transfusions forever. That's how we view depression. Treat the symptom, ignore the cause. It's fucking nonsense.
Its not "feeling sad" you dope, its a legit disorder that affects the central nervous system. You feel numb or dour because your nerves are damaged and sending incorrect signals. Women and tumblrinas have overused it, but it is a real condition.

Also, if single, cook. Making your own food is a huge morale boost to yourself.

One of the biggest "Well DUH" midwit meme articles of all time.
Even if it were the case drugging up isn't the solution
depression is fake
do stuff instead of wank and weed and vidya for guys, and booze and randofucking and netflix for women and you aren't depressed
oh and stop being fat

A legit disorder that legit did not exist before a pill was made to treat it.
