It will be hard to make it about slavery but not impossible. It would imply that the freed slaves become slavers themselves. They do not want that, it may bring attention to black slavers.

Aside from that off-the-cuff idea, I looked over the plot summary again, and it would actually be pretty easy. Once they start seeing conditions improve with the farmer gone, have Napoleon begin understanding money. Then have him profit off of the animal labor, but with better discretion than the farmer, temporarily. All the while, gaslight like in the story about Snowball. You could change the end to be that the humans prevail over the animals because the pigs ran off and screwed the others over.
