We got the original series, the next generation, deep space nine, voyager and enterprise. This stuff isn't star trek anymore. They don't care about the show or the characters. They want it ruined because guys like it, and it's a franchise that was well known and pulled from a longer than decade hiatus. They're spiteful and vindictive and they take pleasure in you hating what you loved, because they don't know how to make their own thing. They take over and infect. Just watch what you liked about star trek, maybe read some of the older novels, and enjoy that instead. The stuff before they ruined it.
There's only so much nostalgia one can handle before it becomes toxic. Our society has become stagnant creatively thanks to the corporate media. There is a reason I am hoping for more from Gina Carano and Daily Wire.
Never watched it. The Xindi arc was kinda interesting enough to get me back after the first season shot me out of the viewership. But I never finished the 3rd season as it was too Bermaga to follow. And for fuck's sake, who the fuck thought Scott Bakula would be a good fucking captain? Jesus Christ! He's a puppy, not an authority figure.
That and letting cucks into anything. Their perversions lead to women getting power through illicit means instead of earning their positions and then everything becomes woke and turns to shit.
“Evil cannot create anything new, they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made.” -- J.R.R. Tolkien
Not entirely true, but mostly true.
EDIT: In reality, this isn't a direct quote but a paraphrase of two things J.R.R. wrote in his books:
"No, they eat and drink, Sam. The Shadow that bred them can only mock, it cannot make: not real new things of its own. I don't think it gave life to the orcs, it only ruined them and twisted them; and if they are to live at all, they have to live like other living creatures." -- The Return of The King
For the Orcs had life and multiplied after the manner of the Children of Ilúvatar; and naught that had life of its own, nor the semblance of life, could ever Melkor make since his rebellion in the Ainulindalë before the Beginning: so say the wise. -- The Silmarillion
I checked out on Star Trek with discovery. This is with Pike right? I wish somebody competent would buy it. Luckily there are a ton of old Star Trek books I need to read
God, yes, it's such a shitshow. This could have been so good, but they fucked it up by letting the guy who cleans up bottoms at a gangbang using his mouth produce it.
It's really a shame that this show has such great visuals, but is guaranteed to be a pile of shit. I'm tempted to write a Star Trek clone that's actually good
I enjoy seeing real outdoor locations instead of just sets & matte paintings (nothing against matte paintings, but it's nice to see some dynamic shots too).
I have just accepted there is no Star Trek after Enterprise. I already winced and begrudgingly accepted the movies including and after Generations, but that's about my limit.
They don't want me, I'm happy to spend my money and attention elsewhere.
Generations and after movies are fanfiction to me. There's no Trek after Voyager to me. Enterprise was named Enterprise because they were already trying to get away from Star Trek, and they succeeded in my opinion.
You know how each series takes a season or two to settle in? I enjoyed the first season of Enterprise a lot and slowly it got into that temporal cold war thing that just bored me to tears. But I couldn't pair it with Nu Trek and do it dirty like that lol
I'm not a fan of the first half (the new teaser) but the second half (the first teaser) is fine. First contact with an alien species is the type of scenario where that phrase applies; one that redefines all of history as "before contact" or "after contact."
We can tell by the trailer they are going to give Pike the Shatner Kirk background. He's living in the country side on a horse farm having retired/retreated from modern world. They come to get him to command the enterprise. Spack is having an existential crises about being a white half-human male in a Black Woman's world and makes it his duty to mentor young Quane Uhuru...I mean, Uhura. The diverse casting will ensure that they are the only voices of authority in the series while Pike learns to constrain his god damn privilege and is saved by Number 2 every time. The plot of going out to explore the universe is a side-point. It's all about exploring the inner self for narcissists with a little bit of outerspace exploration thrown in to make the characters look better.

There's always The Orville. Edit: accidentally commented under the wrong reply. Fixed.
Highly illogical, but not improbable.
Understandable
4th season of Enterprise they pushed nostalgia hard. Didn't save the series and signaled the death of the franchise.

I need to get the daily wire sub. But part of becoming stagnant is the hyper obsession with diversity that cripples storytelling
That and letting cucks into anything. Their perversions lead to women getting power through illicit means instead of earning their positions and then everything becomes woke and turns to shit.
I remember them bragging about having an all female writing room. I was like who cares if they are writing crappy stories
I am reminded of this scene, but unironically they are this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVHR0UPHERQ
It's not about good stories, it's about feeling good about being virtue signalling.
Yea. It took me a while to understand that

So the main character is Uhura, and she now has a shaved head to make her look as ugly they could.
Lol.
Get my Uhura OUT YOUR FUCKIN MOUF!
She's a communications degree specialist and a black woman. She's not expected to do any work. It's the current year, after all.

she looks nothing like nichelle nichols.
also the text on the fucking ship is mirrored. incompetence.
The mirrored text may be because this channel flipped the video to avoid a copyright claim.
Is this another Alex Kurtzman debacle?
Yes, and that's an understatement. Even Planned Parenthood would call the cops on this abortion.
Alex Kurtsman is the Sam Hyde of TV writing. He can't keep getting away with it.
That is an insult to Sam Hyde!

Disagree about the visuals. Lens flare ruins any sci fi show and the ships in nu trek look like they have too many lights and shiny surfaces.
Bring back the TNG aesthetic. Or even Enterprise where the ship looks like a naval ship. In space.
Galaxy Quest was perfect. They used modern visual effects to recreate the '60s basic look but without limitations.
The Enterprise two-parter, "In a Mirror Darkly" does a really good job of making the TOS aesthetic look good.
also made Sigourney weaver look much younger and feminine

Slash fanfiction written about ENT is better. ENT isn't even Trek.

Look at the cast on IMDB and Wikipedia. First contact between races, not species, is the 5 year mission here.
