global trade empowers feminism by reducing real jobs in the home country, which are replaced by academic/busy-work careers.
It's not just that - but also that the larger the company, the worse the effect of "the most intolerant wins". NNT estimates the percentage required to be at 3%. It's easier to get 3% at one very large company, than to get 3% in each of 200 different ones.
I have the misfortune to know of British Leyland existing. That's what happens when there's no competition from outside the country. Awful products that are outclassed by foreign offerings.
Insofar as 'global trade' results in homogenization, yes. Insofar as it does not, it's quite bad. I prefer a country having its own coffee chains, if it has to have coffee chains, than seeing Starbuck's everywhere. Or McDonald's.
It's a fine line, but I think we have too much of it right now, and this may push it in the right direction - though not all the way, as that is also bad.
ESG is still in use. Governments are pushing to bring in digital currencies. They're pushing more "Great Narrative" initiatives. These people aren't going to stop.
I think the war being fought is globalism vs globalization. One is our ability to do trade with each other, or to sail the high seas and destroy the basis of products in the traditional way. The other is a one world government that will restrict everyone to their areas for the betterment of those who created globalism.
The companies and governments are using globalization as an excuse to create globalism. I can write a whole book using whatever computer or phone I want because of Google docs. I can share that document with others, with no money or need to worry. Google wants to use that to find a way to control me and you. It's where the idea of you own nothing comes to be. The globalists think they will rule over that, and have created the narrative of how that will happen.
If countries lock up and close borders, globalism will have difficulties, but globalization itself will prosper. The high seas are open to everyone, and memes are posted to all. Locking up everything is a fall back for globalists because they still have power and can move from place to place. They think they'll win no matter what. This is part of the narrative.
To them, all culture and popularity will be given out. You like this because we said it was popular. You consider this cultural, because we said so.
But memes and globalization ignores that. It destroys those industries, and narratives. They can't pound the war drums have people running to their amusement. The actual war is in our minds and how we view ourselves. It's a choice, and a hard one when globalization has no narrative and theme like globalism does.
It’s the end of western globalization. Russia is already pivoting to India and China as primary trade partners, with Iran and Brazil following suit. Even Saudi Arabia is selling ion alternate currencies now. Europe can either play ball or freeze/starve, Russia will survive either way. In the end, America’s sanctions will mostly just punish Americans. We’ve demonstrated that our monetary system is capricious and arbitrary, a cudgel used to enforce radical progressive ideology on foreign nations who want no part of it. So now everyone in thrall to the petrodollar is looking for the exits.
If only
One can only hope.
Is ending global trade a good thing though?

You underestimate his devotion to market liberalism and his ability to hold contradictory opinions simultaneously.

No reason you cant have both
there's nothing wrong with trade
there's nothing right with reliance on trade

Good
He means it isn't under his control anymore. Shit is turning into a real war, not just a photo-op to push their agenda.
Hey, you're back.
