Saw something I hadn't seen before, on the local news tonight (different state. They barely even mentioned what is happening up there)...
The reporter was outside Djokovic's hotel, in Melbourne. He was saying something about how the situation had brought together "an unexpected coalition of antivaxxers, anti-mandate protesters and Serbian supporters, who would NEVER normally be seen in the same space" (lol, not true).
Anyway, then he started saying something about how Djokovic might be able to play anyway, while the court case proceeds, but then the anchor cut him off mid-sentence, and cut the cross, plus the whole story, short...
It was astounding. They then switched to a completely different story. It was so utterly blatant, it was like... A slip in the programming.
So they're even censoring their own reporters, now, if they go "off script", or say something "they aren't supposed to". To the point of doing that, with no other explanation given. :-/
Was amazing to watch. I know that shit happens sometimes in America, but I've never seen it so blatantly, here. Not with an interstate cross, anyway!!
Usually they just blame "technology issues", and make it look like the whole feed went down, "accidentally", lololol...

Too much trust in the government. Too little ideological diversity, and too much "ethnic diversity". Too many immigrants from "conformist" societies, like India, China, The Middle East, (and arguably the UK), etc...
And a national image that is based on a myth that hasn't been true for at least 30-40 years (tough, rugged, bush-bred individualism, and self-sufficiency).
Oh, and a complete lack of media diversity, and a government that is willing to literally pay the media companies to publish literal propaganda, as you say.
