In the past hour my brother in Christ @TissenTobias has been arrested by @rcmpmb in Steinbach for the sake of the Gospel. Please pray for his young family and that God would strengthen him tonight in a special way. #standwithGod

"Bye Daddy" @TissenTobias arrested tonight in front of his family for being a minister of the Gospel in Canada.

Tobias had been "in hiding" since the warrant was issued, except he appeared at his church every Sunday morning and told the cops this. Since he's getting arrested for holding church service, he thought it only made sense he get arrested at the church. But the cops refused to arrest him there, instead trying to hunt him down everywhere except the place they knew he'd be.

Because arresting clergy at their church is terrible optics, which matters more than the righteousness of the order.

Just because there's a warrant out for you, doesn't mean they're out to get you right now, especially if it's a minor/bullshit charge. They're mainly waiting for you to slip up (getting caught driving with a busted turn signal, for instance), or do something worse (assuming someone doesn't rat you out for the Crimestoppers money first, that is.)

You can bet your ass he was being watched the entire time.

They actually didn't know where he was- they were texting him asking where he was, looking into the windows of his home, etc.

Ah, so they've begun relying on technology for to do their work for them, too, I guess. Bet all he had to do now was just leave his cell phone off.

Pretty sure it's illegal to arrest someone coming to, at, or going from a religious service. It's part of what made the Pastor Art situation so outrageous.

Not quite, section 176(2):

Every one who wilfully disturbs or interrupts an assemblage of persons met for religious worship or for a moral, social or benevolent purpose is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.

Arresting him after the service, which he was willing to do, is legal under that section.

It amazes me that England of all places is now by far the most free place in the Anglosphere when it comes to covid.

What the hell is wrong with the rest of it?

Give it a month and that'll change, they are already preparing the narrative for their winter lockdown.

At least in winter there's the logic of making sure the hospitals don't get overwhelmed by flu patients on top of the covid patients. And even if there is a winter lock down, we have not seen violent or heavy handed policing like in Australia and New Zealand, arrests and religious persecution like in Canada, or mass layoffs or absurd, hysterical politicization like in the US.

Nah, that argument is out the window now. After all, in the US last year there were only 1,675 flu cases recorded in the 2020-2021 flu season. So, the flu is demonstrably not a threat anymore.

Ah yes. Amazing how Covid magically all but wiped out influenza.

It actually amazes me that they're so dishonest they're ACTUALLY trying to cover up that people are just misdiagnosing the flu. I genuinely thought it was obvious enough that it was an easy mistake, so I expected them to be like "shit happens, so sometimes people think the flu is actually covid", but no, they just straight up expect us to buy it, and they deny it???

No, no, you see, social distancing, masks, etc. were effective at stopping the regular flu virus but we didn't do them hard enough to stop the kung flu virus! We totally didn't just classify virtually every respiratory illness as covid for the last year and a half to artificially inflate the numbers and drive people into a panic in order to seize more governmental control.

The doublespeak just makes my head hurt, but too many people are sadly dumb enough to buy it.

It just makes me think "just how stupid do they think we are?"...

I think you're also ignoring that as a (nominal) federation, the US has states with virtually no restrictions and what anti-restrictions they can put in place against non-government entities. So many states here are going to be more free than the UK, and won't have the political will for more restrictions in the future (which almost certainly exists in the UK.)

I specifically said England.

Scotland and Wales have mandatory 'Vaccine passport' requirements, put in place by their own regional governments.

Ah, well, I'd imagine my comment is still accurate, even if I confused the governmental subdivisions of the UK (England doesn't have it's own, separate parliament, does it? It's directly under the UK parliament as I understand it.)

Indeed, it doesn't. Which is a bit of a problem, because it means the Welsh, Scottish, and Northern Irish voters get more of say on England than England gets on any of them when it comes to internal matters.

Wales and Scotland are still in the grip of petty tyrants, don't know about Northern Ireland mind
