I have taken to asking people what week we're on. It makes them stumble. You can see some of the gears turning, while others just click because they're stuck.
I wonder if they just have a serious case of the gamblers' fallacy: "The government lied to us the past 50 times in a row, they're overdue now for telling the truth next time!"
I have opportunity to travel to NYC in the fall for business. All I can say is fuck that shit I am not going. Authoritarian hell hole, Was there last in 2018 and it was barely tolerable. I'm sure most of the restaurants don't want my business anyway.
... we have had this in Chile for ages now. Im amazed sometimes just how free you guys truly are compared to the rest of the world. There wasn't any pushback here for these authoritarian measures... Everyone just went along with it.
This is actually true here too. Everyone is sick of it, but no one wants to make a scene, now everyone is used to the masks (Absolutely everyone wears them everywhere, except with friends and family... And if you don't it's seen as weird, rude and uncomfortable).
Yeah for sure. Where I am mask wearing was pretty high for a while even after the government and CDC mandates dropped. Now? I'd say 30% at best and that's after the small rise up when the fear porn re-started. I'm not in a rural area either.
Things are busy and masks are the minority despite all this. Everyone knows the risk however little or great they believe them to be. Yet, they continue to vote with their actions with the message "we are done with this." So what that some screamers on social media are unhappy, they can get over it.
Maybe it's totally different in NYC and that fine they can choose to wear their masks until the 22nd century as far as I'm concerned, just leave the rest of us out of it.
Hmm, I don't know about that based on personal, non-social media based experiences.
A very sizable portion think there is no risk, ergo everyone should be vacced and it deteriorates from there.
But you might be right that they are perhaps in the mathematical minority if we have omniscience...still the pro-insanity population is way too non-trivial.
I remember how silly I found it when, in Fahrenheit 451, books weren't explicitly illegal but rather people would call the firemen to burn someone's books.
Still better than nothing at all. I would kill (in Minecraft) quite a few communist if it meant I could move to America with a good steady job (hopefully in a fly over state, where nothing ever happens).
I live down in texas and made my weekly run for assorted things and saw an uncomfortable number of masks compared to the past couple of weeks where everyone seems to have been fed up, now theyre right back to it.
I am one of the retards that got vaccinated though so i'm not putting it back on, that was the agreement and they can kick rocks.
restaurants will now have to check customers for proof of vaccination or themselves face fines.
I forgot NYC tried contact tracing:
He recalled the backlash he received when the city told establishments to have customers put down their email addresses for contact tracing and even have their temperature checked before getting served.
"Look, there's an election coming up, violence is out of control, the city is shithole with jobs, rent, and drugs, and no clear, likeable candidate. How do we get these idiots to vote for us? Despite our best efforts, there's still evidence that people vote in enough numbers are machines don't work because all these damn morons are democrats."
"What? The government lied to us and things aren't going back to normal?"
It's just two weeks to flatten the curve!

they'll be dead by the fall at this rate

Majority seems to be demanding mandatory vaccinations, proof of vaccinations, and the usual tripe.
I even read the "Muh Russians!" argument today about anti-EUA sentiment and concern about lack of standard FDA trials!
So while it's better than Australia and the like, I wouldn't call this particularly free. It's depressing.
That's an artificial echo chamber created by social media, where the voices of people with arrested mental development are amplified.
This is actually true here too. Everyone is sick of it, but no one wants to make a scene, now everyone is used to the masks (Absolutely everyone wears them everywhere, except with friends and family... And if you don't it's seen as weird, rude and uncomfortable).
Not in red states. The weirdos are the ones still wearing masks.

I want to be rude and make people uncomfortable. People aren't going to change if they're comfortable.

Lol.

What? The vaccine just came out.
Well..you know...South America.
