Your regular reminder that Texas and Florida abandoned all covid restrictions of any kind at the beginning of March, in what was described as a "neanderthal" move, and that cases there have been flat as a pancake ever since. (twitter.com)

It was called Neanderthal because it allowed two of the largest states to leave the forced crippling of our economy. As we saw, right after the CDC scrambled and said no masks for the vaccinated. They hated the move because they knew it would force their hand.

When the Spanish Flu hit, people wore masks...and then they came off when people were tired of it and did not see the justification for wearing them further. Legislators and politicians backed off because they didn't want to lose their jobs.

California and Michigan seem to have a "screw you peons, you're gonna mask until we reach herd immunity; and that will happen when we say it does" attitude. I really hope their population remembers this next election cycle so that no amount of ballot stuffing will save the swamp from losing a few seats.

In Washington our tyrant won November re-election in a landslide, and to add just that little extra touch of "fuck you", the police department which employed his opponent laid him off shortly after the election.

The rolling blackouts are more likely to take out Newsom than WuFlu: that's what did in Gray Davis 20 years ago. Don't fuck with people's AC in the summer. Funny how that particular issue has reared its head again.

I'm willing to bet money that these people are acting this arrogant about policies that are manifestly unpopular because they were not legitimately elected.

Northern Idaho is gorgeous country. If I wasn't as concerned about demographic changes to that state it'd be a no-brainer.

The worst thing I saw during this is that I know a professor at Yale Medical school that wrote a book on the Spanish Flu. There is an entire chapter about masks and the conclusion it had no effect on the outcome. She was calling for people to wear masks and even double mask. I then quoted her own words back to her.

That whole "no masks for the vaccinated" was a huge mistake. I still can't believe they did it. At this point the only people who are wearing masks are people who are required to wear masks by the health department.

I'm surprised they didn't try to double down and file criminal charges against the governors, or cut federal funding to the states.

That and people who “don’t want people to think I’m a trump supporter”.

That moment when your mask slip causes other people's masks to slip too.
