Which part is the journalist defending the accused? I am reading the "kind of scared" part as she was scared of getting busted for murdering the kid, and this effectively proved her guilt. Without more information we don't know the context or the intent.
Also, women have repeatedly been in control of different societies by either financial, social, or political means. That's just a thing that has happened in history.

When a culture and a people are being murdered by a hundred thousand cuts by enemies from without and they can’t even bring themselves to identify the most basic characteristics of their murderers, that culture and that people has already lost. It’s already dead.
They won’t be able to make even a single prudent decision to remedy their dire straights because they aren’t even able to identify the most basic realities of the situation they find themselves entrenched in and embattled by. They’ll find themselves ignorant to the fact they’re embattled at all. Until it’s too late.

I agree with you that she is probably guilty. But there is still a judicial process that must be followed. We cannot have exceptions, that is how the courts fall apart and have no meaning. Everyone must have the same rights. Innocent until proven guilty.
I'm not seeing where the journalist said it was the victim's fault, or excusing the girl.

Fair enough. There are enemies enough to go around to be sure, and the extreme feminization of a culture is death just the same.
She is a minor and in a different country. The US is similar in not naming minors for crimes they commit unless they are tried as adults.
