The only cool character in Watch Dogs 2 was the guy with the LED mask. But the gameplay was samey and lame and the world felt stilted and uninspired.
Ubisoft was taken over by SJWs a while ago. There was even a video TheQuartering put out about some documents he was sent from an employee how they were mandating sensitivity training and diversity hiring quotas.
Anyone expecting quality from Ubisoft at this point is barking up the wrong tree.
Replaying 1 I noticed some subtle commentary that went over my head at the time, but it didn't beat you over the head with it. Like, when you learn who Badboy was and how she criticized Aiden for assuming she was a dude.... when her handle literally had BOY in it. That's not sexism, that's just fucking catfishing. Not sure about 2 because I couldn't stomach it past hour 2. I could not stand the main cast as fucking all. It just felt like one big thing about how an old person thinks the kids act.
Aiden was an edgy fuck, but at least he wasn't constantly trying to make me laugh.
I played Watch Dogs 1 for like 10 hours and I never finished it because it was not very fun. I don't think there was much wokeness in it as far as I remember the game.
The only memorable thing I remember about the game was driving in the game while listening to the song Day and Night on the ingame radio.
The GTA games and Saints Row games are so much better.
Mostly because when you see something is popular, you try to rationalize that it must be good somehow and you may have just missed what that is. That's bitten me in the ass so many times.
The first one was GTA-lite with a hacking tool. I played it way back near launch on Xbox 360. I do remember enjoying it, but it only left enough impression that I've still been waiting for Watch Dogs 2 to hit about $5 to buy it. Which hasn't happened
Only played 2 and it was alright though not good enough to where I would have paid for it, had more fun with Days Gone though the main character is horribly written and the token lesbian couple made me roll my eyes.
I would argue they have been woke for a long time.
From what I remember from Assassin's Creed 3 (a game that came out in 2012) has Shaun talking trash about America's founding fathers and calling them sexist homophobes in an e-mail. In the same e-mail, Shaun also says something like "before you accuse me of pushing a leftist agenda" which was just an attempt to look neutral
Played Watch Dogs 1 and found to be mediocre. Never bothered with 2 after seeing the ridiculous hip neon coloured-hair hacker activists who were the protagonists. Pro tip to game devs: Never make your protagonists more unlikeable/annoying than the bad guys.
Watch Dogs 1 was the single most boring game I got for free. The game opened up with a cutscene of "waa waa my niece died and I dissolved all my hacking powers, wallow in misery for the first ten missions of this game." and it continued to be shit. Any time you bumped into the idiot AI drivers your guy lost reputation which made escaping harder, any time you pulled a gun out in public you lost reputation which made the game more of a slog fest, driving wasn't fun, every outfit was a copy paste of trenchcoat/hat/bandana, and the hacking was a very boring context sensitive stuff on a timer.
I quit the game when I got slogged into a mission that was just some craptastic cover based shooting gallery where there was nothing to do but gradually poke your head out and jab mooks with your bullets, and you had no choice of how to play the mission out. The story sucked, the gamplay sucked, the ability to get immersed was nonexistent. The only good that came from the game is the glitch complations and that one gif of the player hacking someone on the street, seeing someone on the street visits furcons, and capping the NPC.
GTA V is a meme whale milking fest, but it absolutely slaughtered Watch Dogs. Watch Dogs put out some ad like "Take a trip to Chicago, have some fun away from Los Santos." and GTA V, about two days later, said "Ready to come home?"
No. They were bait and switch nonsense, built on hype they had zero intention of ever delivering on.
Ubisoft is a shovelware developer.
Not sure why you have a downvote, but what you write is truth.
Watch Dogs 2 was especially woke, complete with an obnoxious, obese, rainbow-haired SJW hacker with problem glasses: https://live.staticflickr.com/5469/30874706512_357a2ef656_b.jpg
...and a black tranny running for office: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/watchdogscombined/images/2/22/Miranda_Comay.png/revision/latest?cb=20161123220616

That hacker looks exactly like the GTA V hacker https://gtwfilesie.grandtheftwiki.com/LesterCrest-GTAV.jpg

ubisoft hasn't release anything worth playing since blood dragon

If you know the company is woke now, why are you looking for excuses to give them money or mindshare now?
Mostly because when you see something is popular, you try to rationalize that it must be good somehow and you may have just missed what that is. That's bitten me in the ass so many times.
I played the first one and thought it was so boring and couldn't believe people liked it enough for them to make 2 more
"I found this woke trash. But I want to give more money to the developers of woke trash!"
How about you ask for a refund on the one you bought, instead?

Even 3 does this from the footage of the beginning I've seen. The protagonist group is basically given the GG treatment and framed by lying media.
It's just totally lacking in self-awareness that their side is the one that pulls that bullshit.
Ubisoft is extremely woke. Here are some videos I have come across about their recent games.
Watch Dogs: Muh Fascism
Assassins Creed Odyssey: Inclusive Revisionism
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (We REALLY don't like British Nationalism)
I would argue they have been woke for a long time.

I liked 1 for the most part. 2 was pretty dog shit. I didn't even bother with Legion.
I enjoyed them. WD2 was annoying because there were online multiplayer elements you simply couldn't avoid. I preferred WD1.
It's not great. Get Saints Row 3 if you want a GTA style free roam that's actually fun.
i played 1 and enjoyed what i played, but never finished it because it ran like absolute dogshit.
