Decentralization. Big tech having control of almost everything web related and using social and traditional media to smear competitors is what empowers it. Twitter banned trump and trump supporters were dumping Twitter for parlor and then over night they smeared them, and essentially removed their capabilities to compete with them. If they did not have this strangle hold every time a would be tyrant got power they would lose users and a competitor would rise. That would be enough for companies to start vetting the people they give power to since it would hurt their bottom line to be partisan. But with their stranglehold they can run things like the totalitarians they are.
At some point thought that becomes unfeasible. Who can spend the hundreds of billions to lay additional fiber to build their own internet? Or more important build your own banking system?
There's only one way to get rid of a dictator, and you know what it is.
According to the American Left that method is "voting" them out.
Election shenanigans aside the fact some claimed Trump a tyrant and then celebrated voting him out shows the stupidity of their claims of tyranny in the first place. You don't remove tyrants with democracy [unless it's external democracy in the form of carpet bombing civilians of the puppet gov put in place decades earlier ?].
