When I was a kid I legitimately thought The Boondocks made black people up.

Hell, wasn't it technically supposed to be a way of "calling out" "black culture's" self-destructive tendencies? I know the first season of the animated series certainly tried getting that across. Especially their "MLK survived but was in a coma for decades" episode.

I have to assume the latter, because, well, if you aren't familiar with just how... broken Black American culture truly is, it would be easy to dismiss it as fiction.

I legitimately thought black people did not exist and were made up just like the blue people from Avatar.

It's weird. Even though there were sad times I still miss how innocent and naive I was about the world. I hadn't seen anyone die yet. I hadn't lost anyone yet.

I was born in a place where there are no black people (yes, we actually moved from such a place thinking it would be better) and I used to think black people were like Michael Jordan, Eddie Murphy, Will Smith, etc. Turns out that wasn't so.

I moved to South Carolina at one point (Navy kid) and was in a neighborhood that was mostly hispanic, black, and indian. I was constantly bullied and ganged up on for being white, even got into a massive fight on a couple occasions. Still wasn't as rough as my mother had it, who grew up in Chicago and went to an all black school. She was the only other white kid in that school. Constantly picked on by kids and teachers, told she couldn't have any friends or play at recess because she was white, etc. Adults were telling this to a child under the age of 7. Luckily she moved out to the country of Illinois.

They bitch and complain about being oppressed by whitey, yet are perfectly capable of doing the same shit and being just as, if not, more racist.

Where did you grow up that black people were so foreign as to be mythical?

They did make black people as portrayed seem unbelievable, if you weren't familiar with them. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

Lol I already do. I still miss when I was under 10 and thought the worst people out there were Sonic fans who didn't agree with my Sonic opinions.
