A small biz began selling camera tripods on Amazon, after reaching $3.5 million in sales (0.001% of Amazon's revenue) Amazon copied the tripods exactly, sold them & banned the company (archive.vn)

Depends on your capacity for dealing with people, I imagine.

Dealing with the public always sucked, and I can imagine it's only way worse now with all the more nutters and just plain rude 'tude dudes running about.

Yeah, I'd just as soon handbomb heavy crap in a warehouse next to a robot that doesn't talk all day about nothing.

Night shift was better, but I still had a few hours worth of people who couldn't find the product right in front of them. And the occasional last minute customer. Otherwise empty aisles and no one to bother me.

Working at an Amazon retail store.

Ravelli

I have some Ravelli gear and I can confirm that it's Chinese crap.

I don't regret buying it because it was cheap, but it's nowhere near as nice as my Manfrotto.

I have no sympathy for this. How many of these business owners applauded the coronavirus restrictions, which gave Amazon unfair advantages over mom and pop stores, thanks to the diabolical "essential retailer" label?

How many of these business owners publicly disagreed with the push to bring back manufacturing to the US? If there was a manufacturing boom, it would be harder for Amazon to locate the Chinese supplier and undercut American businesses.

They did it to themselves.

Non sequitor.

These aren't business people. They're biznaz, the sort of low intellect dudebro cretins churned out by the likes of Carlson School of Management. They didn't put in work, they just found a Chinese product and came up with a logo to slap on it... just like AmazonBasics.

Non sequitor

It absolutely isn't a non sequitur. These people advocate for things that embolden Amazon's business practice, until they do something they don't like. Maybe if they had standards that they upheld indiscriminately, things like this wouldn't occur.

Can't flip flop on issues on the premise they don't affect you, but then start to complain when they though. Reminds me of the idiots crying about a stimulus package, when they applauded the state mandated lockdowns. You reap what you sow.

I think you misinterpreted what I said.

Ravelli holds no patents. They have nothing to hold over Amazon because they literally did not create or produce their product. They went to a chinese manufacturing wholesaler, bought their product, and slapped a brand on it.

AmazonBasics did the same thing.

Now, take my much better Manfrotto tripod head. Manfrotto SPA has patents. They have a lot of patents. If AmazonBasics tried to sell Manfrotto's product there would be lawsuits.

I have no regard for middlemen. I think they contribute nothing of economic value, they just compete amongst themselves for who is better at marketing and service.

In this case AmazonBasics and Ravelli are both middlemen peddling the same literal product produced by the same Chinese factory. I don't care if Amazon leverages its advantage for that particular SKU.

To put it another way, for Ravelli to have legitimacy in my eyes they would have had to contribute some original value beyond just inventing a brand.

Nobody gets angry about Albertsons for not carrying Walmart store brand cereal. Nevermind that it's the same damn cereal.

I agree with this. I think this story is a clickbait article by elitist crybabies, who want to contribute a wind up to the perpetual communist frenzy.

Amazon has to be stopped. You have no idea what you are giving away for this relatively short-lived convenience. And 'convenience' that they can afford because they are getting deals cut no one else can.

I think a billion dollars in Amazon stock ought to cover their losses.

Somebody tell these people to lawyer up.
