Slave mentality. The slave trade didn't end because slaves revolt, it ended when Europeans decided to end it, sometimes with bloody civil wars. People forget that.
People intentionally ignore it
I honestly didn't feel this oppressed in SERE school. You knew there was a world outside of your oil drum and a way to return to normal life. There is nowhere to escape the globohomo corporatists.
This is really the main point I get to with most of this stuff they've done for Covid. It's not necessarily what you're asking (telling) me to to. It's the total lack of goalposts.
Want me to go along with some restriction? First, convince me it's actually going to accomplish anything. Then, set some reasonable discrete defined goals and stick to them. Having someone I don't trust at all make demands to me until whenever they fucking feel like rescinding them? Well, that just makes me defiant.
It was fine when it was 15 days. Or even "until summer so it can wind down." The only people complaining then were the ones nervous about it never ending.
Its been 8 months and we are doubling down on lockdown rather than taking steps in reverse, seemingly this is never going to end.
A lot of us realized that politicians are cowards and would be terrified of opening things up again because any deaths after re-opening would be laid at the feet at the politicians for doing so.
I thought the drastic reduction in tax revenue resulting from shutting down the economy would eventually shock these politicians into re-opening, but I severely underestimated both the cowardice of our Betters and their ability to deny reality.
They'll just raise taxes to make up the shortfall.
I got to build an igloo in SERE, basically a day camp with waterboarding
One guy had pizza delivered during evasion and they found the boxes. The interrogation was hysterical:
SMACK
I'll never tell you fucks anything
SMACK
Burn in hell commie
SMACK
They eventually caught the guy because he had the receipt in his pocket.
How can you be so clever as to somehow sneak a pizza box into SERE and yet so dumb you keep the evidence on you?
The major pizza chains deliver to 10 digit grids in the woods near some military bases. Getting the pizza was as easy as finding a road and cell signal during the run around the woods phase of the course. You weren't suppose to have a phone, but we hadn't been stripped yet.
That is fucking glorious
How does the call go?
"Papa Hotel this is Sierra 1, stand by for grid reference."
Should’ve told them it was boneless
You are mistaken. They want to sacrifice YOUR freedom for THEIR safety. It's a massvie difference.
How privileged is your life when you get to pretend to be "oppressed" on social media, to the tone of 500k likes?
How privileged is your life that you can actually believe a government will stop there and relinquish power once it is no longer "necessary"?
Look, I can do it too.
How privileged is your life where having to use your own drinking fountain is the most oppressed you've ever felt?
How privileged is your life where not being able to get an at will abortion is the most oppressed you've ever felt?
How privileged is your life where having to emigrate legally is the most oppressed you've ever felt?
The thing about bad faith reductio ad absurdum is that it's intentionally not an argument. It's designed to get the dumbest of the dumb agreeing with you. They're not changing minds. They're not even actually saying anything. And they know it. But they get social media validation, and that's more than enough to keep them happy for the next few hours until they're chasing another dopamine hit.
Imagine when not having preferential treatment is the most oppressed you've felt.
Blacks seem to get very upset when other people watch them, waiting for them to start acting black.
