Oh, they've been barking up that tree for YEARS. Even to the point where we're not supposed to say "marijuana" even where it's perfectly legal. "It's CANNABIS". Yes, that's the technical term, and it looks more professional on a storefront sign, but I see little "racist" in using the Mexican slang term, I've used it all my life, and I just think it sounds softer and nicer than "cannabis".

And in case anyone is wondering, this is what a typical legal store looks like in Alberta: https://www.narcity.com/u/2018/10/17/a88a66cd9374fe794082ab0a907f10d3a54314c9.png_640xrel.png No head shop bullshit.

Tbh, I'm so tired of the clean, minimalist, "modern" look of things everywhere. Give me a head shop with a bunch of dumb stickers and some "tobacco use only" (wink wink nudge nudge say no more) any day

Yeah, but there's reasons they went for the cleaned-up, jewelry-store look. Not that Farmer Brown picking up some joints for his long day on the tractor is any more comfy in one than the other, but at least he can feel a little bit respectable when he goes in, and probably doesn't relate much to Bob Marley. :P

Fair points. I dont like stoner culture much either, but at least the stores have a culture. They've got life

Well, I'm sure some pipes-only shops are still like that; the two around here I can think of, one might have a couple of posters, but otherwise, isn't as cluttered as some old-school places I remember from way back when, and the other one ... is just too jam-packed with stuff to really "decorate". The picture shown is an outlet where you can actually buy weed/weed products as well as paraphenalia (but you're better off going to a headshop for gear, the weed stores' are waaaay overpriced. You're just not allowed to see the weed first. Shades of old-school Ontario liquor sales.)

Anyway, it's just a kind of ... cultural shift, or take-over if you will, a gentrification of the marijua .... cannabis industry. The government kind of underestimated how "normalized" it already was amongst the middle class riff-raff.

It's just kind of another sign of how out of touch "the elite" actually are with normal people. Kind of like old-school TV executives thinking that normal people would be offended by the sight of pregnant women - in the middle of the Baby Boom, when being pregnant was the style.

Calling it Marijuana to associate it with dirty Mexicans was part of the strategy for getting it banned originally when the paper companies didn't want to compete with hemp.

It's horseshit to use that to call people racist now, but that is interesting history.

It looks exactly like the SQdC shops in Québec.

Ugly as sin.

For the love of Satan give me a fucking break why don't they just say literally everything is racist and move onto something else to get mad about

Do they not realize they are creating and reinforcing negative stereotypes?

I remember hearing about this in a weed documentary years ago. Years later when I understood the left, I realized that this was probably horseshit.

That's an old hat of theirs. They used to pull it out when all the cheap, easy pro-weed arguments failed against men of any principle.

Its only racist because blacks apparently just can't function without it. So even those who aren't doing anything else wrong still always have some pot on them during any random search*, meaning they are constantly being jailed for it.

Which means, like most crimes, blacks end up disproportionately arrested for it compared to their population size. And because of states with no tolerance 3 strike type policies, even tiny crimes like that keep them in the slammer.

*I won't discount a chunk is entirely due to cops planting it to force an arrest/search, but after 2020 and BLM I barely care how the cops treat them considering how they treat the cops.

There's also the matter of some people tending to be more stupidly careless, with attitudes that lead them to getting arrested, often in flagrante delicto. I'm not even thinking of north american blacks, I'm thinking of a different bunch of stupid n's.

They're just reinforcing the notion that racism is a moral good.

Yeah, I’m fine with states legalizing marijuana, but making it a race issue is bullshit. Even if it wasn’t bullshit, most of us are incredulous about every single claim the liberal media makes.

Ya know , if Orange Man did nothing else for this nation , it was getting our media to rip the mask off instead of just playing the long game like they used to. More people than ever before , know that the universities and organizations who put this stuff together , are propagandists trying to indoctrinate people. I’m optimistic this could help slowly wake up people before it’s too late. I mean too late to do anything. There’s still a few paths out of this, it’s just that none of the remaining options are pleasant. A 1/1000th chance is better than no chance , and I will always appreciate the President for giving the country one last gasp of air before we begin the last dive . Either make it to the surface or drown in the waters , but the former option only exists thanks to a crotchety billionaire who had the balls to call these morlocks what they really are, an enemy of the people .

Funny enough , President Trump in 4 years , robbed them of so many of their main weapons in the information eat . The late 90s to early 00s explosion of propaganda videos masquerading as documentaries did a lot to move young people to the left , even if it was just one issue per voter. I always knew media was corrupt but never knew that damn near every last one of them for the last 40 years , were peddling bullshit. More people know this fact , than ever before . That is a win. I am one of these people and there are many more . I personally admit to having Gell-Mann Amnesia during my youth. Being a proponent of the 2nd Amendment and against abortion , I would see things on these subjects and immediately know it was cherry picked bullshit. I would then turn around and take documentaries on Iraq , prisons , immigration, and drugs as incontrovertibly true. Not that these things aren’t without issues but this is the thing , we’ve entered “Boy who cried wolf” territory where now I don’t believe a single fucking word a leftist says about anything.

Granted , it’s a bit of a double edged sword , since a corrupt conservative now has an effective shield against reports of anything scandalous . The left killed journalism and long term , that could screw the nation. A journalist is supposed to deliver the facts , so an informed populace can make the right call on an issue. let’s say there was a conservative or libertarian who actually was a scumbag , would you believe the press if they published evidence of their crimes ? I personally wouldn’t . Next time an Evangelical NeoCon like Bush gets in the Whitehouse and launches a bullshit crusade ( I have no problem with military action , but fuck going after secularist dictators in the region like Saddam or Assad , it’s mostly the Saudis and Pakis funding fanatics more than anyone) it’ll be the media’s fault. But I’d rather that scenario occur , than join this death cult amalgamation of Communism, Satanic hedonism, and tribalism.

What's wrong with people using drugs? The government shouldn't be punishing you for destroying your own body. It should only be illegal if sold to someone underage
