There was nothing woke in Pan's Labyrinth - I just recently rewatched it. Good story, amazing cinematography, no wokeness.

The part that honestly bugged me the most (okay, besides the "being in massive debt" somehow being white privilege) was the beta males. Everyone was a beta except DUDE, who was incredibly stupid.

Best example, the main male character. He pines over this girl for the entire movie while she completely ignores him and only comes to him when she needs help, or to save her NPC boyfriend. Then at the end (spoilers) she blows him off when he asks her to coffee and the NPC tells her that the main character loves her. Then she rushes off to find him? Seriously?

Girls know if they like a guy as more than a friend within days, most times hours of meeting them. No, the reality is he would have continued to chase her and she would have continued to use him when it was convenient. And the whole thing was treated as "oh it was worth it, he gets the girl," so dumb.
