Checking with friends is a good start, but if none of them can hook you up you'll need to start making other plans.
General tips:
Do you have a vehicle of your own? If so, you can potentially live out of that. It won't be pretty, but it's do-able.
If you're lacking friends to crash at or a vehicle, consider looking for a shelter. Check to see if there is a group for shelter advocating in your area, as they may be able to hook you up with a place to stay.
Is there something like a UPS Store in your area? You can rent a mailbox there that will actually get you a physical address instead of a PO Box. It'll get you the ability to claim that as a residence location if you need to change address, as well as being able to receive packages for you.
Personal hygiene should not be neglected during any time where you might be without residence. Again, if your friends can't give you a place to grab a shower, consider signing up for a cheap gym membership. In addition to the ability to work out helping keep your mind straight, having a place to grab a shower and get cleaned up is amazingly uplifting.
Do you pay for your own cell phone? If not, and you can't afford to take over your line from your parents' contract, get a prepaid unit. You can get decent low- to mid-range prepaid smartphones these days for under $200. Wifi is fairly ubiquitous, so with any luck you won't be burning through your data allotment to maintain contact via the Internet.

A game (or any work, for that matter) should NEVER be retroactively censored. That level of authoritarian bullshit should NEVER be tolerated, and any publisher that does should be avoided like the plague. This is also a good place for me to speak my mind against digital-only media. If you can't download an archival copy of something (that can't be altered by the manufacturer by a "patch") or you can't lay hands on a hardcopy of it, then you don't own it.

HR departments that are willing to rubber-stamp friend-of-a-friend hiring practices. In many sections of the business world it's still a case of who you know (or who you blow) can get you hired, and this goes doubly so in the SJW-infested world of RPG publishing. Once the wokies took over the HR departments it became even easier to for them to herd the followers of the narrative into positions of power - where said followers then proceeded to be just as massive a POS as they were out in the real world, only worse because now they were in a position of power. Someone gets an allegation thrown against them and has to dip out? HR slow-walks the investigation while the accused finds a new job elsewhere, or they dig up enough dirt on the accuser to be able to shit-can them and bounce them out of the company for violations of employee handbook rules.
Just remember, HR isn't there to protect you, the worker. It's there to protect the company from you.

Firearms. Get your FOID card if your state requires one, pick up an inexpensive plinking rifle or handgun, and see if your local gun shops have a group. Learn how to shoot and defend yourself at the same time.

Same thing goes for other martial hobbies - archery, slinging, HEMA, Eastern martial arts, MMA/Judo, what have you. The physical ones will help your health, both physical and mental. With archery and slinging you'll be honing your skills and learning ways to hunt or defend yourself that don't require refined black powder and bullets. Word of warning on historical stuff, though - stay the hell away from most SCA groups, as they are typically pozzed AF.

Hunting/fishing/hiking/camping/other outdoors sports. Your mileage may vary depending on how into outdoorsy stuff you are, but at the very least hiking is a good one. Long walks in nature can help clear your mind and center your spirit.

Creative stuff like painting or sculpting, your choice on medium and style. Other things in the same vein include woodworking and metalworking (including blacksmithing).

In a similar ballpark, learn a musical instrument. Start small if you don't want to drop a lot of cash on it, something like a harmonica or tin whistle. If you want to stick with music as a hobby it then you can move on to something more involved like guitar, piano, sax, or a horn of some sort.

Gardening. You can go for a flower/zen garden if you have the space for it and want someplace to center yourself and meditate as you tend to it, or you can learn more about actual gardening and growing your own foodstuffs. This can also lead to getting into canning/preserves.

Cooking. Learning to properly cook your own food can be very rewarding, and as an added bonus you can eat healthier and you'll likely save money in the long run by not eating carry-out or fast food as much.
