The discussion around this movie is so toxic and the fanbase so vocal that had it not been for them it would've flown over my head completely like the past 10 or so Pixar movies.
Yes there was a critic who said that the producer made the movie only for her, her family and close friends because it's very hard for anyone else to relate to it and he got flamed hard for it even though he's absolutely right. The movie was marketed as for children 5-10, same as all other Pixar movies, but how the hell are they going to understand the appeal of boy bands? Tamagotchi? Manga and 90s anime? All of it will fly over children's head yet the plot revolves around these things.
I don't know, but I really can't understand why all those damn Koreans are so involved in censorship laws and suppression of speech.
