Absolutely concur. Prosecutor's argument was pathos-based trash. In my experience, if you have to resort to pathos, your factual case is in bad shape. Disgusting that this ruling even happened. Hopefully, the appellate court throws this shit out.

He is guaranteed an appeal at this point to the State Appellate Court by law.

Appeals can go on for a very long time. At least a year is common, and I have had experience working at a law firm on matters that went for close to a decade.

Former paralegal here. Case was being held in a state district court. Chauvin has a period of time to appeal the verdict through the state court of appeals. The court then must hear the appeal. If they don't overturn it, Chauvin can apply for certiorari at the state supreme court. Supreme Court appeals are not guaranteed however. His last shot to appeal if cert is denied by the state supreme court is to then apply for certiorari at scotus. The appellate courts have the ability to declare a mistrial and remand the decision back to the district court and can order the court to proceed in accordance with the appellate ruling, which, among other things, can include throwing out the jury verdicts as tainted and make the district judge rule as both the trier of law and fact in the matter. This is not legal advice. Check with a licensed attorney in the appropriate jurisdiction for best results.

Amen. She definitely fucked up. Don't see her getting out of this without being found liable at this time.

Just tell them you are waiting until the vaccine is out of clinical trials first before taking it. They would not want you to risk your health on an unpredictable and unproven treatment I am sure.

Ok. Looks like it is through the house. Now is the time to worry.

More kids die in car accidents. Your point?

Never heard of the Bath School Bombing huh? Guns are not the problem. Psychos intent on atrocity will always find a way no matter how much you wrap up in your safety blanket and think happy thoughts.

Looks like a bumbling attempt to clarify and expand the existing 1964 Civil Rights Act. Ironically, most of the bullshit they want in is already covered by the original act as written (not that the idiots who wrote this would know... I am certain none of the drafters ever actually worked the litigation side of things). Not a big fan of the added pozzed bs to the language though. Overall, this looks to just be bullshit for bullshit's sake. I wouldn't worry until it is much further along the legislative process (the congress.gov site has a tracker).

Former paralegal here. This is a 100% true statement. Most attorneys and their support are astonishingly tech illiterate.

Problem with unconstitutional stuff is that it still takes time to get struck down by the courts (if it ever does). In the mean time, you are still stuck with either forced compliance or defying the law, which will carry criminal penalties (even if it is ruled unconstitutional later). The damage will be done even if it is overturned and there is little to be done to fix it.

This assumes an awful lot about how friendly the Russians and Chinese are (hint: they are not on greatest of terms at the moment, with China's saber rattling against Russian interests in the region, and the Russians threatening to shoot Chinese military flights down that continue to infringe on their airspace). However, there is truth here as well. The US is currently in crisis with weak leadership and is estranged from its "allies" in the EU. It could get bad in a hurry for sure.

Where I am currently, I would (at this point) make more in fast food than to continue on as a paralegal. However, I did have a good amount of experience in custodial and transit positions. I have already "fallen up" into a custodian position through a temp agency and have plans to get into a local utility company through my contacts there. Hard part for me atm is preserving as much of my hard fought gains as I can until I am in a more stable position. I am taking your advice and investing in precious metals though and you are dead on with the advice.

Will do my best to try at this point with what I have left. Savings have been wiped thanks to the "progressive" quarantine here in MI. Even ended up leaving the field of law because I no longer see a point in it. Been a hell of a couple of months and the worst is yet to come.

As someone who was working poor for most of my life and who recently joined the middle class in the last three years (looks like I will be back to my roots soon though) I totally agree. People in the middle class who have not known anything else are weird/ignorant of much of the hardship. It's pretty fucked up.

2020 was a pretty decent RPG. Was way better than V3 though. Currently thumbing through a pdf copy of the tabletop for Cyberpunk Red to see if they did better with the IP there, but as far as the video game goes, unimpressive.

I never played the Witcher series myself. Was a fan of the Tabletop game though and was hoping for something better than what I got.
