This is a very real growing threat. My father is a brain-dead liberal and the perfect litmus test for leftist programming. I use him to gauge what the current leftist thoughts are. About a year ago or even 6 months ago, my father considered Fox News Watchers, Republicans and Trump supporters to be all mostly the same. He just assumed if it was something said on fox news then all Republicans and Trump supporters believed the same thing. I explained to him before how a lot of Trump supporters don't actually care for the Republicans but he didn't believe me at all. He seriously thought guys like McConnell were adorned by Trump supporters because he saw the Republicans as all being Trump supporters and on the same side. I explained to him the nuances but he didn't believe me.
About a month or so ago that all changed. Now my father believes MAGA Trump supporters are different than other Republicans and are the real problem with the USA. He even suggested that regular Republicans might be good but have been forced to support Trump because of fear of the MAGA Threat etc....
The shift is basically showing the colors of the true third position in politics. I think a lot of Trump supporters are realizing that traditional Republicans are basically Democrats on disguise. The "uniparty". All doing the same thing in the end. It appears the Democrats are being radicalized to believe the same but to believe Republicans are still bad but MAGA are so bad they cannot be tolerated and must be exterminated.
Sadly, I think Trump will prove himself to be nothing more than another uniparty member and in the end many Americans are going to be left feeling betrayed and abondoned. Any third position that isn't eliminating the left as they wish to do to you is going to fail.
