Good for her. I know she'll issue a groveling apology and "take time to think about how her actions might have hurt people" pretty soon, but for now, good for her.

For context, John Campbell has been saying since omicron first hit the scene in South Africa that vaccines just won't cut it anymore and acquired immunity through contracting omicron is both inevitable, and our only way out of the pandemic. He called it before almost everyone else, and has been consistent that we have to stop boosting everyone forever. He's a pretty fair-minded guy.

They won't. They're terrified of him. He's too nice, too sympathetic of a character, and too articulate of opposition.

The names were exposed but I don't believe anyone actually released them: https://techcrunch.com/2022/02/08/ottawa-trucker-freedom-convoy-exposed-donation/

Triggernometry did a great podcast just today on the lab leak theory that presents the most solid case for it I've heard yet.

There's some scattered reporting that some cops are resigning and refusing to advance against the protesters. I guess we'll see if it's a marginal group or something with momentum.

Basically they're preparing for the endgame here where the police blackout cellphones over Ottawa, move into box the protestors, throw tear gas, make mass arrests, and send the freedom convoyers off to processing centers. They're calling on everyone everywhere to head to Ottawa to bolster their numbers.

Reading between the lines, they've said they have active members of the police force on their side and I think they got intel that the end is coming. Gonna be interesting.

I've watched more of these protests than I care to admit, and everything these leftoids say about them is false, built on lies and propaganda, and easily verifiable. Truly remarkable what an alternate universe they live in.

"Wasn't an easy thing to do"

"We've been fighting a long time for women's rights"

These pampered, clueless old birds have never suffered a day in their lives and wouldn't last a second without living off the labor of the working class men like... Oh I don't know... THE TRUCKERS. Give me a break.

I didn't see a feed for either. I'm sure they could be generated though.

Sorry, I don't. But if you have any I'll gladly add them to the list above.

Yes. RealClearPolitics is a news aggregator with its own editorial board. They're right of center, but usually try to put forward a bit of balance. I haven't spent much time on their science section but would like to. I'd also like more science links if anyone has decent ones.

Yeah, it's free and pretty easy to use. There are a ton of services that generate RSS but almost all of them you have to pay for.

I hate LibreOffice, but it's probably the best FOSS alternative at this point.

The companies that have mandated it will likely continue to. And if Biden wants, he can force OSHA to make more narrowly-tailored orders to different industries, and those mandates will likely survive scrutiny, if the Supreme Court follows its own logic that it laid out in its opinion. I don't see this as a victory.

Exactly how I feel. It's a checklist of "vaccine hesitant" talking points. It confirms all my biases, altogether in one document. I just don't buy it. Even if I agree with the claims it's making, I don't think it's a credible document.

Could be wrong though. But my sense is, this is gonna get spread around with the intention of the usual rightwing suspects eating it up and sharing it, hinging their credibility on it, then it gets to be revealed to be a fake and the well gets poisoned.

We fall back on our federalist system of governance, whereby states either do or do not assert their own workplace rules for mandatory vaccinations. My state passed laws on this months ago, which unfortunately has not effected federal employees, but has protected other private workers. Other states have done the same.

We are too big and too diverse a country at this point to even dream of applying single rules to every single citizen across every single state, as delegated from the federal government. This is where state governments shine and differentiate themselves, and increasingly we will divorce ourselves from federal authority. They have the illusion of power, which is not the same as actually possessing it. We saw this effect play out when Trump tried to penalize sanctuary cities, and the cities just said fuck off.

Welp we know Breyer's vote. That's three in the can for upholding the mandates, but I guess they weren't a surprise.

I'm catching up to Kagan's "questions" at the start of the hearing... Good lord... She's just lecturing, and every statement she's making is wrong.

Oh. My. God. She and Sotomayor couldn't be more ignorant.
