Its a resource exhaustion tactic. It takes ten lines of real effort to substantially disprove one line of made up accusation, so they just hammer you at a 10:1 ratio until you're exhausted or have other things to do and bow out. Then they claim that means they won, and by extension whatever they were saying about you was true.
I was disappointed by G-Witch's ending arc, but decided that I had enjoyed the show a lot overall and wasn't sorry I watched it. That said, I'm torn on this.
On the one hand, I'm a guy and an old-guard American otaku and I like yuri. Quite a lot. And the yuri elements in G-Witch were good. Played overt for laughs, but subtle and serious in other parts, with a good vibe that lasted the entire run of the show. Few shows embrace yuri in any kind of serious way these days, and of the ones that do very, very few do it well. So I'm happy that G-Witch pulled this off.
On the other hand, the Rainbow Brigade were absolutely insufferable during the show's run. Plebbit's r/gundam had threads like "I HOPE THE ENDING IS GAY KISSING AND RAINBOW PRIDE EXPLOSIONS AND JUST OWN ALL THE HATERS AND MAKE THEM SEEEEEEEETHE!" Those people would drag down every conversation I tried to have online about the show. (I got called homophobic twice because I said I was disappointed by the lack of slow-shot, close-up mecha porn like older Gundam shows used to give us). So any change that severely pisses those people off gives me a knee-jerk "Good!" reaction.

But reversing it requires something very specific. The person controlled by it has to be taken through the motions of resisting not once, but twice. Only after a SECOND forced motion of resistance does the spell break, and the helpless subject begin to recover autonomy. I'm not some big loli fan, though there are a handful of works and a couple specific artists that I've liked over the years. And as best I know its, "loli is just a subgenre of hentai, with the same appeal that normal hentai has." There's a pattern that I've noticed and that I wish there was a word for. It's like. "I'm guilty of doing something that I know is terrible, and so when I want to accuse someone of being terrible, then the first thing I always think to accuse them of is the same thing that I'm doing because its always at the forefront of my mind." Its related to projection, but the thought process is more succinct and different because it gets applied to the most random situations where the accusation makes little sense. Its got vibes of the Telltale Heart, where instead of the guy just freaking out at the end he starts randomly accusing the police of being the REAL murderers.

There were scores of thousands, and quite likely hundreds of thousands of votes that were affected. Far more than the total needed to swing the election in the key areas where it happened.
