From the green movement/recycling, to women's lib, to black lives, to revolutions in the name of 'the people' which always end up the same dumpster fire. This is what it comes to -
burning environmentally correct electric scooters in the street for, uh, peace or something .... muh righteousness. Seattle. https://old.reddit.com/r/SeattleWA/comments/iysfpi/a_lime_scooter_gave_up_its_life_to_the_revolution/
How the fuck did this ever happen in my lifetime?
This is the legacy of the 60's. The American people were sold a bag of lies.
Agreed. The revolution should not have happened in the first place. All it did was create the perception that this new world could work, when it reality it was always a doomed project.
Yep. Give a huge, coddled, pathologically self-absorbed generation of morons full control culture and business for 60 years and this is where you end up.
The last several decades of life in the US have basically been Boomers inflicting their fucking daddy issues on the rest of us to the point where it’s just about to destroy western civilization. And it looks like their spiritual heirs (the millennials) are here to help them finish the job.
The social upheavals of the 60s happened because of soviet cultural infiltration in the past decades. Every "social movement" was subverted to forward a communist agenda.
The plan continues to be the same:
Incrementally the frog is boiled and one day we wake up in a country that has removed all meaningful limitations on government power. The tools that communists use to take over are the liberal and democratic principles of the US but without the original emphasis on responsibilities, and only allowing those who have skin in the game to access to power.
Which is funny. Because the track record of capitalism and meritocracy in making everything better nad solving quite a few of these exaggerated problems for everyone is quite good. Not without hickups but still.
While all socialism seems to be able to do is bringing everyone but a select few down.
Socialism and government regulation lead to the 'healthcare' cost crisis in America. Then Obama 'solved' the issue by more socialism. I wish it was common knowledge how cheap healthcare would be without government forcing costs and without allowing tax payer research to be monetized by sanctioned corporations.
Hayek said that capitalism solved so many of society's ills that the remaining ones became more intolerable to the masses. That's when socialism swept in, claiming to have solutions.
No, the problem was, it put "intellectuals" out of work.
Normally, those people would have been bookkeepers or government clerks (or court eunuchs). Computers and market economies put those people out of work. Now, they want back in by causing problems with pretty words and then charging you millions for the "solutions."
The 60s and 70s environmental movement was funded by oil to kill nuclear, same as todays highly unsustainable solar and wind movement is. The 60s and 70s also featured the birth of fraudulent social science studies like money, stanford, shutting down mental health hospitals, etc., killed the black family unit, solidified baby murder, sold out to communism, killed the single income household, normalized anti american terrorism, saw the implementation of CIA in journalism and activists, and on and on.
Don't forget the Hart-Cellar Act.
The 60s legacy is exactly what started all this. There is no better example of why it should have never been allowed to happen than what it led to both immediately and down the line.
Every one of these was a stepping block given without being earned and to be abused. Their legacy is one of horror and failure, unless their mission was to destroy the west (which I'm sure many would have said so) in which case entirely accomplished.
You know what? Good.
The 60's were the time in history where commies came the closest to overthrowing the United States. The further that shit is walked back, the better.
All we can do is laugh.
The legacy of the 60s has always been questionable. wtfhappenedin1971.com
Unchecked immigration and the Great Society.
All the old school orgs were subverted by the 1990s. "Someone" paid off environmental orgs to shut the fuck up about human overpopulation by then, and the wildlife orgs had already been turned into hunters' circle-jerks long before (looking at you, Sierra Club, you and the Suzuki Foundation are both shames to their founders), as well as groups that were totally subverted and now pretty much exist to fly directly in the face of their purported "mission".
The leaders/mouthpieces/"influencers" of the modern left are barely green enough to be called Watermelons, and they certainly don't care about non-humans. Hell, they're the exact people who think that "might makes right" - that's why they're so scared of a "Master Race", because they love to be the Master Species, lording it over all and pretending to be something special and different from the rest. They're the ones who screech at the very concept of Noblesse Oblige - that's why they hate Christianity, because that's exactly what Jesus was teaching his apostles (the people he was training to help lead the new Jewish kingdom after the Romans were expunged).
I'm pretty sure the DEA has banned whatever it is you were smoking before you wrote this comment.
Whatever it was, I'm sure it was green before he smoked it.
