I have a few occasional family videos I want to crop, that's all I need.
Apparently Movie Maker was removed from Windows. Is there a simple, free and easy to use video editor anymore?

I used shotcut for my work injury video thing.
Its nothing fancy but it does do its job and its open sourced.
Not that it matters, those videos have 0 views which is really strange to me because ive watched them a few times, and i know my family has too.
Kdenlive is free and good enough for basic tasks
Second that. Ive had good luck with it.
VirtualDub
Blender
Opening a can of beans with a CNC machine
Never thought I would see that suggested.
I remember it as a particularly difficult to use 3d rendering software package. It originally had no menus, no buttons, and no offline help, only hotkeys that weren't documented anywhere in the program. I remember taking to somewhere without internet for a Christmas vacation to learn it and it was almost entirely useless without the forums to tell you which keys did what.
I know the devs finally broke down and made a proper GUI(they were adamantly against it in their forum posts back then, insisting people should learn the hotkeys like with the vi text editor), but never thought I would see it listed as easy to use or as a general purpose video editor. Interesting.
I probably haven't looked at it in nearly 20 years.
I use clip champ on W10. I’m not doing anything complicated but it works well for me.
Windows 10 has stolen more from me than I realized.
RIP my one dumb unfinished Street FIghter IV combo video.
openshot is also a good choice
I've long used OpenShot, which is simpler than the already-mentioned Shotcut for beginners.
I'm pretty retarded and i've tried a bunch of video editing software for more difficult tasks. I borrowed davinci resolve from the internets and it's fairly easy to get into although the interface is confusing at first. I've also tried a bunch of smaller/simpler ones but they usually have a pretty poor interface so the simplicity has a price.
I used to use VirtualDub back in the day, not sure it still works anymore.
I use the ffmpeg commandline for everything now. It is the opposite of easy to use.

Immediately seeing those words makes the song Bodies by Drowning Pool play in my head.
