Because their alternative is hell on earth aka India. A hell of their own making, of course, and they will turn your country into that same hell, too. Corporations and elites are leveraging the horrible conditions of the third world against first world labor. It's not your fault that Honduras is a shithole, but you are going to suffer the consequences regardless (in suppressed wages and imported cultural decline).
If your country is developed, then all immigration is evil and harms you. If it's not harming you, then it's not your country.
No "all" immigration, bringing in the "best and brightest" as well as the affluent is a great idea!
Letting in the scum of the 3rd world without restrictions = suicide. That's the Liberal Party of Canada's mission for 11 years now. 1 million per year for the past 5 years & counting in a nation that once had only 35 million people. That's like 50 million "legal" immigrants into the USA, eh? Plus the illegals on top of that.

Those "best and brightest" will still want to bring their families and friends, who will also want to bring their families and friends.
Additionally, poaching the "best and brightest" from the entire world leaves the rest of the world with severe brain drain, meaning that the rest of the world will remain a shithole, which in turns means they want to invade areas that aren't shitholes.
There are 2nd and 3rd order and beyond effects to everything. We've run the experiment: it doesn't work.
It worked for over a hundred years though. Only let in people who bring something to the table. Even if it's just "I want to become a lawful Citizen & help the nation prosper."
They (Liberals and Dems) changed that to: let them ALL in! And guess what? those sub-human people will also bring hordes of sub-human friends and relatives too.
In the 80's? My cousin married a fellow from Venezuela. He was already a Canadian citizen, eh? Together they sponsored 7-8 more family members, maybe more. It was a wealthy family (shoemaking industry) and they saw the writing on the wall down there. Every one of them was a professional of some sort, nicest bunch of folks!
More appropriate to say "The system tolerated it for a hundred years" than "it worked for over a hundred years".
Canadian, eh? Ask the First Nations their stance on a bunch of people from another ethnicity and language and values coming in and taking over, even if they were more competent than the average First Nation-er.
The past 100 years got us to where we are now.
So many pro-immigration point to the early 20th century as a success story regarding the flood of european immigrants to America and the resultant melting pot.
The problem is, it's a total lie. What they leave out is that it was almost one-for-one immigration back and forth across the ocean - europeans would come to America to make thier fortune, fail, and then go back, automatically weeding out all the loosers.
We no longer have that. We haven't had that since post-ww2, if I'm being very fucking generous.
People were allowed to flood in because they never realized 'give me your tired, hungry, poor' was blatant lies and propaganda.
The only way immigration works is if you have some way to get rid of all the loosers. Otherwise, you get where we are now.
Because as far as they're concerned we're all nothing but cattle.
